: Too much bounce?

How much bounce should the front end have after hitting a dip in the road or going over speed bumps? Les Schwab put on new shocks all the way around about 4-5 months ago (saying they would stiffen up the ride a little) and at first they seemed ok, but now I have noticed it bounces like 4 times or so after hitting a dip at freeway speeds. Also when going slow over a speed bump the front end bounces 2-3 times. It gets really noticable when I hook up the 5er.

I know the front on the DMax are heavy and I'm wondering if they installed crappy shocks that couldn't take the pressure. When I press down on the front bumper the front end goes down, up and then stops, so seems OK.

Just wondering if this is normal?

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like they left the stock shocks on. With Bilsteins, for example, you will get a down-up motion and that’s pretty much it and that’s what you should insist on.

So do my Bilstein 5150's up front, Will be going to a dual shock set-up this summer for more control.

Thats pretty much the same bounce that I have right now with stock shocks with 45000 miles on them. UPS man just dropped me off 4 new bilsteins courtesy of Kennedy that will be going on this weekend.:D

Two things...

1. The service at Les schwab is great - they put shocks on my wife's volvo and it was too firm a ride - they swapped it off for something softer without batting an eye.

2. I did have a Les Schwab get me some bilsteins for my old '03 2500hd duramax - it took a bit of time to get them - backordered at the time - but they special ordered them for me.

3. The shocks lack the low speed dampening necessary to control the extra weight of the diesel motor. New shocks please.

I put some adjustable ProComps with the reservoirs on mine because of the same reason. I noticed if I turn them up to about four it will only do one bounce and then level out. I don't know if they make one for a stock truck. They might make a MX6 without the reservoir that might fit.
