I'm a new member and read that some of the guys were comparing prices. I bought mine at Sierra Motors in Jamestown CA. The list was 47,988.00 I got it for 39,155.00

Great dealership

Crew cab 4x4 SLT, chrome steps, XM radio, trailer tow pkg.

That sounds like a great deal. I got mine on the GM-S plan pricing. I think mine listed at 47.5 and I paid 39K before tax and license. I took the 0% 48 month deal instead of the $2500 rebate. I guess I could have said I paid 36.5 if I'd have used my own bank or paid cash.

Hmmm. I ordered mine with an eye toward price minimization, so my price is low, especially for CA.

$300 over invoice + taxes - rebates and incentives is $35,209. That is 20.3% under MSRP.

No trade. Cash.

2500HD crew cab 2WD D/A HDPP, split rear window, 5th wheel trailer hookup, power mirrors, and spare tire lock. 2nd trim level -- whatever the name is -- and no other options.

Of course I am in the 4th month of waiting for it, but that is another story.

There is no doubt something is wrong. The first TPW delay was understandable. The second one was apparently because of the split rear window (requires Deep Tint Solar Glass; requires heavy duty air cleaner). The third delay ... I have no idea why that happened. The fourth delay is one I am suprised others are not screaming about. The little bird told me there is a whole production lot of new Duramaxii parked outside the factory. They are waiting to be manually inspected due to a possible faulty batch of injectors. A guy, a wrech, a clipboard and 63 acres of trucks to check. No Duramax pickups are being shipped, regardless of what your dealer tells you or your transport termination date is scheduled as.

Soooo...the delay won't be in getting my just ordered truck built, it'll be in getting it SHIPPED because of the huge bottleneck/backlog of bayed trucks. This blows...

My MSRP was $47 and some change as well. Paid $37,110 which was GMS and rebate and GM to GM cash plus $1500 rebate. Also had to rollover negative equity from previous vehicle. Not a bad deal. I know I will never go back to a gasser. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Is supplier price 15% off MSRP? I talked to a local dealer here and she showed me her original invoice, it had GMS, SUPPLIER and some other prices listed on it and supplier was like 10 or 12% under MSRP. She told me she would sell me a truck at 1% over invoice, I have a supplier autherization number for the discount, but when you figure those numbers its about the same. I was just curious if her print out was correct or not.

A bit to fast with the keyboard there.

Here is what I did.

Learn some about the trucks. Learn more than the salseman so you can speak clearly on the subject. Try to locate what you want. Nobody had what I wanted (6 speed crewcab without carpeting, plus cab lights). Not available in CA.

Get price from Costco car ordering program.

Arrange for test drive in "similar" truck. Pack wife, kids, car seats, misc. junk into existing car and go to dealer. Car dealers know cars; I drove my wife's white Mercedes S Class and parked right in front of the showroom. S Class Mercedes will always impress Chevy salesmen, but a used S320 costs LESS THAN A USED CAMARY!

Ask to order one; agree to pay cash; offer $300 over invoice. Order, then wait 5 months.

Well I already know more about them than 90% of the masses let alone the sales peeps, so I have that covered. lol

I'm going to order a GMC 2500HD, Silver, CCSB, 4x4, SLT, dual alts, sunroof (I have to wait until Aug to order an '05), and maybe if the 4.10:1 gears are available order those too. I keep hearing they are and then they are not. All the trucks at this dealer are SLEs.

I currently have a '01 Chev ECSB Z71 LT that's in top flight shape that I maintain. Always cleaned and waxed. So I don't look like a total chump when I drive around...it was $37K MSRP.

My credit is decent (low 700s) but I don't have $39-48K to pay cash. What's the reason to offer $300 over invoice?

What other advice can you offer?

Thanks! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

My method might be total BS. Who knows. Bringing the wife & kids for a test drive is a show of "serious". When I brought the S320 the first time, pretty much we just traded keys -- they gave me a truck off the lot and let me take a test drive alone.

The pick of $300 was arbitrary, but was an indication I had a clue about what the actual cost of everything was. You could start at $50 or $500.

Ask around for a gm in the driveway cert. Search this website for more info.

I got mine below invoice at supplier pricing due to getting the cert. I ordered my Chevy the way I wanted. The GMS pricing is on the printout that has the invoice price.

My sticker price was 48,297. Got the dealer to give me invoice cost and he gave me 15,250 for my trade, which was appraised via NADA.com at just over 12,000. With current rebates and Military discount, ordered it for 23,464.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Here in Idaho we have a dealer that offers "Best Price" posted on the window. I don't have the CC mine is an E-Cab but the sticker on the window from GM was $41,900, dealer "Best Price" $33,444.00 so it's now in my garage. Can you beleive that my salesman said that about .05% of the customers at this dealership don't like the "Best Price" thing and still want to haggle. If they check around like I did then they know that the other GM dealer in the area was about $5,000 more for the same truck, go figurehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Harley99... that's almost $9K off MSRP! Looks like I have a good idea how much I can haggle the acutal price to not including TTL.

The one I will order is about $48K... GMC 2500HD, Silver, CCSB, 4x4, SLT, dual alts, sunroof (I have to wait until Aug to order an '05), and maybe if the 4.10:1 gears are available order those too. I keep hearing they are and then they are not.

Thats what I got at Sierra motors here in Jamestown, ( best price ). No haggle, or anything.

After ordering my truck at Plummer GMC in Lodi CA. and waiting 8 weeks, they sold it out from under me.

I called Sierra motors and asked if they had a truck with the equipement I listed and as luck would have it they did.

They offered the price before I could ask.

My advise is don't believe anything your told about price until they bring the papers for you to sign. You can buy a fully loaded crew cab, SLT for 39,500.00.

Price it on the net , then go shopping by phone. I had the same truck priced at 3 dealers within $120.00.

I'll bet that dealer in Idaho is Smith?

I wanted to buy from them but there was a big hassle trying to get the truck into CA. unless I waited 3 months after purchase or racked up 3000 miles. I finally beat thier price here in CA.

I ordered mine from Camino Real Chevy in Los Angeles on Feb 24th. MSRP was just over $47k, paid $200 under invoice with GMS $41,550, minus $3,500 rebate, $38,050, took delivery on tax day April 15th. Loving every minute of it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

how do you qualify for GMS pricing?

hoppy
05-10-2004, 12:02 PM
Gator,

I don't know what GMS pricing is. I do know that there are many dealers out there that will give you a good price. You can find them easy if you have built your truck on paper and have a price you want to pay. All you have to do then is call dealers and talk to the internet salesman. Most of them work independant of the other salesman and you skip all the pressure tactics and other crap, getting right to the price. Internet salesman sell trucks all day at discount prices. Try it, you'll like it.

Gator,

Go on the internet and use whatever search engine and type in GMC or Chevy truck pricing. You will get many choices of sites to research prices. I used Edmunds and then compared to a couple of others.

i guess i need to look around more. ive been to a local dealership here in orange county a couple times and they are insisting that there is no way i can get one anything under sticker price because of the "high demand" around here... anybody in so. cal have any suggestions for a dealership that could help me out, somewhat close to the orange county area? I dont think this dealership is taking me seriously. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

STOP WASTING YOUR TIME SHOPPING FOR THE BEST PRICE !

Go here: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3008&PN=1

Get GMS pricing (supplier pricing is below invoice) by using a GM in the Driveway Certificate. FYI: Rebates will work and are applied after GMS pricing.

Make sure to call the dealer prior to going down there. Ask if they accept GM in the Driveway Certificates. To see if they stock the vehicle you want to to www.gmbuypower.com (http://www.gmbuypower.com) and view the window sticker from your computer. If you special order, just make sure they will accept the certificate before ordering.

If you can't find a certificate by reading AND searching, then post a question under the New Vehicle Ordering forum.

Good luck and enjoy the best pricing around (except for maybe a GM employee). I did it this way a few months ago and have NO REGRETS.Edited by: mbeckwith

Become a GM Card Member. I bought My 2WD CC lly/DMAX for 35.3k. With no rebates. I added to that deal $1000 off for being a GM Card member plus my earned credits towards this truck. I took the 0% @ 5years instead of the $3k in rebates. I even made some money back on the trade 2002 6.0l 2500HD. A White DMAX lly with tan interior was hard to come by back in March.

New user,

Some dealers are like that, just won't budge. Forget them. Even if you did buy from them it would cost you a lot more than elsewhere. There are dealers that will deal. I don't know of one in Orange County but it seems a few phone calls and a drive is a lot cheaper than paying the high price. I think diesel sales will slow a little now with the high prices on fuel, so it might be easier to find trucks. The phone is your best tool besides the internet.Try the dealerships in small towns within 100 miles of your home.

Irvine GMC got me a Sierra DA for $200 over invoice. Talk to Randy Thompson, tell him Pat McSwain sent you.
