: is this my clutch slipping?
gottadmax 04-28-2006, 09:21 PM i had the edge on 5 and i was messin with a mustang and i down shiffted and when it got up to about 2500 rpms it acts like it wont gain any speed, it just kinda jerks alittle and slowly picks up speed, but it doesnt do it on the lower levels on the edge so is it my clutch or what else could it be?
fitzer 04-28-2006, 09:35 PM sounds more like an 'edge' problem. If your clutch is slipping, engine revs will increase a lot faster than speedometer. Trust me, you'll know when the clutch is slipping.
05_LLY 04-28-2006, 11:31 PM sounds like maybe a bursting issue to me!!!!
Cheyenne19 04-28-2006, 11:34 PM I don't know but it could be fuel filter. Does it feel like it stumbles and falls on its face?
gottadmax 04-28-2006, 11:47 PM yeah when i really hammer on it and keep in it for a min it feels like its cuttin out, but if i go easy and keep it on a lower level of the edge it does just fine
Cheyenne19 04-29-2006, 10:49 AM how long have you been on this filter? It sounds to me like that is it.
gottadmax 04-29-2006, 10:58 AM for about 80k miles, could that be the problem?
AlligatorPerformance 04-29-2006, 11:46 AM for about 80k miles, could that be the problem?
 Get a new filter and change it every 7500 to 10,000 miles, 80k is a bit much.
05_LLY 04-29-2006, 04:49 PM 80k on one filter, talk about geting your moneys worth from something!!!!!!
As Alligator said, get a new one and keep it changed, i chang mine everyother oil change, about 6k.
Cheyenne19 04-29-2006, 05:44 PM I'm going to go out on a limb here and say i think we've found the problem.:D
chevy_9465 04-29-2006, 07:07 PM I dunno, mine does the same thing and I just got the new style fuel filter, it has maybe 1000 miles on it, with the bully dog on the crazy larry tune if you hammer on it goin down the road like in 5th or 6th and hold it there for a second it acts like its cuttin out.
01Duramax6spd 04-29-2006, 07:57 PM It's the fuel filter,I'm almost sure of it. My Dad went 80k too  .It was his first diesel and it just quit pulling one day when it was 15degrees out. Talk about a PITA on the side of the road. Anyway that new style one lasted me maybe 2k  and I started loosing power, mpg, and was getting really upset.I thought my injectors had taken a dump. I changed it and the air filter and it was like new :) .
Cheyenne19 04-29-2006, 08:24 PM I got the new style filter not long ago, and I've felt like it robbed power. Mine doesn't stumble, but it doesn't smoke as much either. Did anyone else notice this?
Chevy_9465, how do you like that crazy larry tune? And do you know what the hp numbers are for the triple dog's settings?
chevy_9465 04-29-2006, 08:51 PM I like it a lot, im not sayin its the best, its probably not, but its the best tune iv tried so far, Ill get back to you on the setting, I cant remember for sure I do know that the CL is 230 though. Maybe it is the fuel filter, i dont think thats whats goin on with mine though.

230 hp, you need a lift pump!!!!!!
Cheyenne19 04-29-2006, 10:07 PM I feel like I've hijacked this thread now. I would agree about the lift pump. I've got a triple dog and have been reluctant to put the CL on due to my DMF. I just had it replaced under warranty and don't want to buy the next one. I can't seem to find the HP numbers anywhere. What was the reason for the new style fuel filter? It seems from a couple of people that they don't like it. Can you still get the old style?
01Duramax6spd 04-29-2006, 10:51 PM Go to NAPA or other parts store and buy one. My NAPA one has given me no problems.
chevy_9465 04-29-2006, 10:54 PM I think the reason for the new filter was to hopefully cut down on injector failures, you can still get the old style filter im sure.
gottadmax 04-29-2006, 11:05 PM i dont know if its has 80k on it but my truck has 80k on it and i have only but about 6k miles on it so its prolly needs a change, but i took my truck to the dealer today and they said their was a recall on the filter and they will put the new one on for me monday and why i was their i had them check the injector ballance and they said it was way down and i needed them replaced, could this just be caused by the old filter or does it just need injectors?
chevy_9465 04-30-2006, 07:51 PM If it was down on all 8 of them id say it probably could be the filter b/c most of the time not all the injectors go bad at the same time.
