Sorry, there is no way to shut the lights off on a Canadian truck. No kidding. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Joe

You talking about daytime lights or the actual head lights.

My wife's 99 suburban is the same way. Daytime running lights are on at all times. I've been thinking of how to turn them off and perhaps the easiest way is by utilizing the off feature tied to the emergency brake by wiring in a switch to manually control the daytime running lights. I haven't done this yet but am thinking about it.

Not to sound like a COP but canadian law states that DRL's must be active. US veh can shut off DRL's but it has to be done every key cycle, 04's have a detent on the light switch 03's you should hit your dome over ride button 3 times fast you will hear a chime when it deactivates ....IF ALL ELSE FAILS READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL!!!!!!

you know it's that little black book wrapped in plastic in your glove box.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Are you suggesting that there is a way for me to disable the DRLs on a 99 Suburban? I've just re-read that part of the manual and cannot find anything to that effect. If you know of a way, please let me know.

Could you rig something up to the parking brake to turn them off?

I tap it on when I start it on cold mornings, because its a huge pain in the ass to start at -30, and I don't want to kill those batteries.

I had the same thing on my 98 Chevy 1500. I added a toggle switch on the dash. Per the GM wiring harness, the DRL's work on a brown wire. Easy access was under the hood on the passenger side. Spliced in the switch and WA- LAAA I could run the air at the drive-in movie without blinding the car in front of me.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Whats a drive-in movie?

joe... see if the e-brake turns it off by depressing it just enough to hit the switch. That works for temporary outages.

Next would be to find the wire and add a switch.

Does the switch on the e-brake also tell the BCM your e-brake is on? I forgot mine once and the computer chimmed after I got to 10mph or something like that. I thought I saw that in the manual or somewhere.

Thanks Boy's ,but I am talking about the headlight's.The switch seems to indicate there is an off positin but I can't get it to work.I can live with the DRL's but if I want to start the truck when it is dark out the headlight's come on every time. I know my 01 DMAX you could just step on the e-brake and it would disable the headlight's.AnyHOOThttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif I will get over it.

Thanks again for all your help. You guy's really know your stuff and have been a huge help to me so far.

send me your vin and i'll see what can be done ....your veh sound to be equip. with an light sensor, should be located on the center of your dash up by the windshield.....a little oval plate with two small holes in it.
