so i went to install my AFE stage II yeasterday. i noticed theres hole bout 2 inches around up by the motor that i think is for a resinator (spelling?) tube. and a 1/2 inch one closer to the filter. i have niether on my truck. the intake says its for an 01-04 LB7 but my stock tube didnt have the 2" one and im missing the smaller one. the guy that had it before me instead of cutting out a couple large holes simply sawed off the bottom of the air box & he didnt plug the 1/2 hole. i cant find either of these tubes. do i need them? right now im using a bolt to plug the small one and the bottom of a propel bottle with a vacuun cleaner belt for an o-right on the big one. :D

If I am picking up what your putting down then the smaller hole should be for your MAF, if you are running without an MAF then you must be setting codes. I wouldnt bother hooking the resonator back uo though, really doesnt do anything except looks.

no no i have the MAF in. the AFE book said the hole was for a filter life tube or something. it goes right into the stock airbox. but on the intake its on the front side even with the MAF. i didnt think the truck would even run right with out an MAF

The smaller 1/2" hole near the filter is for a filter life reminder (a clear plastic vial that was to tell you when the filter was to be changed)..when installing the AFE, you were supposed to transfer the reminder and associated grommet to the new intake. ...if I'm reading your original thread correctly.

exactly. the smaller one if for the filter reminder and the larger is for the stock resonator. just cap of the resonator hole. doing this will actually make the turbo whine a tad louder.

oh i got ya. yeah it said somethin about filter life. i wish i could tranfer it but it was missing from the stock intake. but good news i made a nice billet aluminum plug for the resonator hole at work tonight. its perdy

another question. with just the intake and juice my turbo whines alot louder & faster than before. after install my mbrp 4" TBE tonight will it get even better?
