Just got my truck back from dealer after having 8 injectors replaced. Truck runs fantastic. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif However, while the truck was getting serviced I had them see if they could find a small oil leak that It had.
Drove 385 miles round trip to a wedding, got home, let the truck sit for about 3 hours, and when I went to leave again, there was a pool of oil under the truck as big as a Ice cream bucket lid. Yes, that big.
Now you would think after adding dye to the oil and having the engine torn apart for 8 injectors, that they could find that damn leak.
Now I have to bring truck back to dealer to find leak. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
Any hints on what or where this leak is coming from? Oh yeah, it always shows up under the passenger side of vehicle and is located around the back corner of skid plate.
Thanks for the info

The leak is worse then before. And yes, they changed the oil & filter after injector work.
They have added dye in oil before, but the leak must be so recessed in the engine compartment that they cannot find it with there black light.
Tomorrow will be the fourth time into shop to try to find mystery leak.
One more thing, it is not a fuel leak because they added dye to oil again, and I held light on the oil that was on the floor, and she glowed green.
Could this leak be a rear seal? The leak is coming from somewhere above the rear of oil pan.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Thanks for the response!

I still lay somewhat suspect to a fuel leak, but if its leaving a puddle that big, it shouldnt be that hard to find. I chased an 'oil' leak for some time before I relized it was actually a fuel leak from one of the common rails

When injectors were replaced the mechanic said he broke one of the fuel rails. They replaced both sides and I also see some really clean parts that look new back by the turbo. Maybe this is just my imagination.
I also don't think it's a fuel leak because when I touch the oil, it's really thick. Not runny.
Thanks for the help

I have seen the turbo oil drain leak at the bell housing.
and have seen the lower oil pan leak at thr driver side right above the oil level sensor. and there is a bulliten for oil leak at the #6? crank shaft bearing cap cross bolt.could have a valve cover gak rolled over?
A leaking drain plug? dripping on the skid plate running to the right.

That is exactly were the oil leak is at. Every time I shut the truck off, within about 25-45 min, there is a puddle of oil under the back right corner of skid plate.
Tell me this, wouldn't you see this leak if they just replaced all 8 injectors. Isn't the motor pretty much tore apart.
The oil leak also depends on how hard I work the truck. Today I drove 85 miles, little leak. Two days ago I went 350 round trip and when I came out later that night the puddle was as big as a coffee can lid.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
I can eliminate the drain plug question because I have an oilguard system installed and everytime I see oil leaking I check the plug. Dry as a bone.
What side is #6 bearing cap on? Does this matter. Like I said in my previous post, this will be the fourth time in for this leak. They can't find nothing. Oh yeah, The leak didn't start until they replaced the first two injectors. Been leaky ever since.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the ammo!

There is a bulletin for the #2 main bearing crossbolt leaking (left side of engine) There is also a bulletin for the oil cooler lines to engine block leaking. Have your dealer look at bulletin #02-06-01-023B and #PI01774.
