: My LBZ is leaning bad to the drivers side???
Crawling82toyota 04-27-2006, 01:25 AM Ok well i just about 6k miles on it and i noticed the other day that it leans really bad to the drivers side of the truck. The whole side sits about 1inch or 2 lower than the passanger side? anyone have this problem or know what it could be thats causing this??
Max Power 04-27-2006, 01:27 AM Full tank of fuel? The drivers side is quite a bit heavier with a tank full of fuel and you in the driver seat. Crank the torsion bar on the drivers side a few turns and it will level out.
specialagentPK 04-27-2006, 01:38 AM Also when driving down the road it keeps the truck level while one side is riding on the crown. Thats why I drive in the middle of the road more or less.
SD-455 04-27-2006, 07:16 AM Also check the spacing between the ends of the heavy bottom leaf and the leaf above it, they should be the same from side to side. Also check for a broken leaf. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix the problem. With a 1/2 tank of fuel and nobody in the truck it should set level.

sf jakey 04-27-2006, 10:37 AM a tank of fuel makes a so called 3/4 ton truck lean? I sure hope not. What happens if you put a load of lumber or firewood in it? Seriously, something isn't right there. Of course the whole GM suspension is pretty weak in my opinion.
specialagentPK 04-27-2006, 10:42 AM If they never made the suspension have any give in it it would ride like SH!T. Thats what the overload springs are there for, for when you do load it. I had 5k lbs in my bed. Truck rode pretty nice and I was impressed with how well it did considering the weight. To have 200lbs of fuel plus a 180lb driver and all that to sag 1" or2 is fine IMO because that is why there are the overload springs. And like I said it is probably set up that way in order to combat the crown of the road.
andym1996 04-27-2006, 10:45 AM My buddys LBZ is 1 inch lower as well... cranked the t-bars, and it helped a little. we were afraid that the alignment would be off? wouldnt that be true?
Max Power 04-27-2006, 10:46 AM You don't have anything to worry about as far as alignment goes by raising it 1 inch.

ned946 04-27-2006, 10:55 AM I think the truck uses torsion bars up front. You might have a loose nut that has allowed the torsion bar to back off a bit. Easy fix.
My front end seems to have some rattle to it develop over time....I'm suspecting it has something to do w/ the t-bars.

Take it to the dealer, I have heard of several GM Vehicles that had to have the torsion bars adjusted after a couple of months. Make sure they check the alignment while they are at it.
EDIT, make sure you check your tire pressures first
ratlover 04-27-2006, 12:05 PM Measure it....a lil side to side difference is OK but 2" aint. I would take it to the dealer if its bad.

Even lifting just one side??? It seems to me that it would throw it off! I raised my 03 to level it (about 2") and there isnt an alignment issue... but i cranked it evely.

Did you have the alignment checked, or are you going by feel? I can not see how you could raise the front end of a truck 2" and not affect caster and toe. Camber would probably stay within an acceptable range
Grit dog 04-27-2006, 01:45 PM I don't think you should have any noticable lean to either side unless you have the bed loaded on one side. Our of the 30-40 trucks I've had (swap company trucks frequently), I've never had one that leaned to either side noticably unless loaded to one side in the bed. Had old POS cars and trucks that would lean, but that was attributable to broken/sacked out springs.
W/ a new truck such as yours, I suspect the torsion bars just weren't indexed the same when the truck was assembled.
Kennedy 04-27-2006, 04:39 PM I think if one were to go out and measure you'd find that they all do that. Just level it out side to side and have your alignment checked. It will make a fair bit of a difference in the toe.
blizzardplowman 04-28-2006, 01:17 PM Mine is off 1" to driver side, might be 66 gal of fuel though!

i told lou and he volunteered.
Crawling82toyota 05-02-2006, 08:55 PM yea thanks brandon for offering lou but really....the problem seems to be in the bed and the rear of the truck. The just seems really crooked and it is bugging the **** out of me. I guess i will just take it to the dealers....thats what a warrenty is for!
