: H2’s/Tires leaking air badly

All 4 of my H2 wheels leak air a lot. They lose about 8lbs a month. I never owned a tire that needs to be checked every fill up of fuel (-2lbs/week)before. Is this normal? Or do I have defective tires/wheels?

Did you look inside and see any tiny holes? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Is it just me or does PC have problems with everything? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

It could be three things

1 a hole in each tire, doubtfull

Alloy wheels tend to corrode in the bead area and before mounting they should be buffed clean and a bead sealer should be used

or and this may be the problem, one of these guys on the board are letting air out of your tires at night.

So everyone elses tires are not leaking like this.

Now I know why the hummer dealer is selling them so cheap.

I think you arent getting a good seal at the bead because your pressure is too low.

In the time we've owned 2 H2, I've never had to add air to them.

I've had the wheels on my truck for a year and they are fine.

Were they already mounted or did someone else have to remount them.

Should I have them reseated? I bought them seated on the wheels new. Should I run a higher pressure? I dont tow anything.

going from winter to spring temp change might have someing to do with it. take them to where you get you tires let them put them in water tank and you see wher they leaking. might have to use some bead sealer

That is exactly what I run and I have no substantial leakage. Might ought to get 'em checked.

Can you see any light coming through the tires? If so, I'd add more filter oil..

Sorry, no offense, but I couldn't resist.

I can account for my wherabouts at all times, so please, when you "Round Up the Usual Suspects", I had nothing to do with PC's Air Probs. My Alibi is Air Tight!

Take one of them off and put soapy water in a spray bottle, lay the tire down and spray around the bead, look very closely for tiny bubbles, check both sides and the valve stems. This should tell you if the bead is leaking.

Now that I've taken my cheap shots, Do as White duramax says and then get a valve stem wrench and tighten the inside part of the valve. Perhaps it isn't tight and leaking. The fact that they all leak about the same suggest that they may all have been loosened slightly somewhere along the way.

Ditto on the soapy water. Do the beads and the stems. If nothing shows, you may need to soap up the whole thing. They have big tubs in the tire shops where the drop the tire under water to look for leaks.

Its not necessary to be ********* on every post I make. I have no problem getting us all banned if its war you want. And for the staff to chime in is totally unbelievable. I sent Geno an email and asked for a truce. I got NO reply. So that tells me the maturity level of the people Im dealing with. Im getting sick and tired of all the bullsh*t. Hey STAFF since your chiming in on all the bullsh*t you got my reply in this form.

I will take them off next weekend. My speedo is stuck at 130mph now and I have to take it to the dealer. I have a list of things that need fixing so Its time to bring it in.

AC runs warm

Speedo broken

Roof buckles and pops over 70mph

Rear spring clack

Belt tensioner squeaking

Tailgate cable recall

Driver window loose

Play in front end

4x4 growl from front diff

Lurching at idle

Unstable rpms

Missing idle

Tranny shifts up/down at red light

mpg droppage (12 mpg now)

Im sure Ive forgotten a few...Edited by: Mackin

Are your Valve Stems the One Piece, or 2 piece design? I had a rubber washer go bad on one once of the 2 piece design.

Ozone will eat up a 1 piece rubber valve stem.

Nothing personal, but you keep tossing these "Softballs" out there, and folks are gonna take a swing, after a while. It's human nature!

If I had your luck, and couldn't laugh at the situation, I'd go crazy.

AC runs warm

Depending on how warm it is outside this could be normal A/C are rated by how many degrees they can lower a given temp.

Speedo broken

Wow.... at 130??

Roof buckles and pops over 70mph

Normal... it's called "buffeting" The owners manual in my new Dodge actually addresses it by telling you to change the amount windows are opened... something we learned early on with the GM crew cabs.

Rear spring clack

Mine did a little too.... its a truck.

Belt tensioner squeaking

Now there's a biggy

Tailgate cable recall

I had VR Straps. Cables suck, stainless or not

Driver window loose

New one to me

Play in front end

Typical of GM IFS. Come like that from the factory. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif Normal as long as your tires don't wear funny.

4x4 growl from front diff

How do you know for sure? Very few issues with the front difs.

Lurching at idle

I had it too. I think everybody does. Especially sitting on a hill and you tap the throttle. Gives you a second jump sometimes. No fix as far as I know.

Unstable rpms

Typically it's a bad RPCV rail pressure control valve

Missing idle

Look under the seat http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Tranny shifts up/down at red light

Strange???

mpg droppage (12 mpg now)

Not good mileage. Depends on mods tires and driving habits. To be perfectly honest with you PC, looking at the fact that you have multiple engine running issues, one of those getting fixed could bring your mileage back.

Im sure Ive forgotten a few...

One thing we all need to stay aware of. Any mods to the truck could effect durability and drivability either for better in the short term but worse in the long term. Edited by: hoot

PC, I have the "buffeting" as well. It damned near deafened me the other day with the rear windows opened about 3 inches and the fronts closed. I pulled over, thought the rear was about to go kapow!

Or Chrysler... He sure does have a lot of problems for such a nice trouble free truck.
