Gentlemen,
Been on a never ending quest to find true projector headlamps for my 03 silverado. Not the one's with circular enclosure's for lights but the projectors you find on denalis, lexuses, etc. If you have'em I'll them right now!!!

My only experience with projectors was with the new Lexus i bought my wife (the big sedan). Seemed like the ilumination went to a certain distance and was cutoff. Could not see s..t beyond that. Don't know how they can just stop light at a certain distance (smoke and mirrors) but i can't use beams like that. I want my light to go forever and ever.

If you will check out the sites that sell HID's, I know that there is a set out there somewhere that will minor mods will make the HD lights projectors. Not sure who it is that makes them but I have seen them on a truck around this area. Next time I see him I will try to talk to him and see where he got them.

Thanks....Mike. L. those projectors on the your wife's Lexus (I'm in service at Lexus of Orlando) are self-leveling, due to the brightness of the headlamps they have a stop in them to only allow a certain distance to lit up in front of you. This keeps them from glaring into oncoming traffic.

To bad it's not the GMC. The Denalis slipped right into mine. They are way better than the substandard stock candles. I know JC Whitney use to sell a conversion kit. I don't know if the still do or not. It was like $600 though. Super Diesel

Duramaxed03, You have me a bit confused here. Mainly because of your signature. “H.I.D headlights and fogs (xenarc)” What are you using now for headlights?
The Denali is not a HID. It does have a projector style housing, but it uses conventional Halogen bulbs. If you are just looking for a projector style housing for your 03, APC has a part number listed (403680HL) for the 03-04 style trucks. I’m not sure how widely they are available as I have not been able to locate them through normal distribution channels.
This is the only place I have seen them listed web source (http://www.go2aaw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.home&section=5&subsec tion=36) but I’m wondering if they are actually shipping yet.
If you are using HID conversions, things get very tricky. I have not seen a true HID conversion yet that works correctly unless it had custom housings. Converted OEM or Halogen aftermarket conversions usually have the wrong focal length for the HID lamps. There are some bulbs out there that claim to be HID but are only a simple halogen style bulb. A true HID will have a ballast to use a high frequency, high voltage arc across a xenon gas. It will not contain a filament.
The only conversion I have seen that is correct (and DOT legal) is the Sylvania Xenarc which is only available for the 99-02 style Chevrolets and 97-03 F150. As Super Diesel stated the Denali lights will drop in the 99-04 GMC trucks.

I have my normal headlights and took out the old bulbs. Had a friend plug in the H.I.D bulbs into my stock headlamp housing and splice in the H.I.D. wires where when I turn on my headlamps the power goes to the ballast and then the bulbs.....I am just looking to upgrade the look of my truck not the function. And the H.I.D. lights I bought where only available for the 99-02 silverado. My friends just pretty good at wiring and making square pegs fit into round holeshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif. Thanks for the part #'s I checked them out...looks like I'm just gonna have to wait until a vendor finally makes a true drop-in projector style replacement. And you are very right about the focal length and not getting the maximum benefits of the H.I.D. system with my headlights. My xenarc foglights are absolutley great. I have a lot of people looking to see what is coming down the road with my headlights and foglights lit up.
Thanks again,
Mark
