There is a sensor on the drivers side rear head that I have heard to be called a fuel pressure sensor. What does this sensor exactly do and could it be the possible cause of a air leak?

Thanks

Maybe you are mistaken with the oil sensor unit .exact same location electrical 1 wire on top .

THey are military '86 6.2L's. I know it's not the oil pressure sender. I heard it might be a military only thing.

Sensor probably senses a cloged fuel filter or simular trouble.

I dont know how the military trucks are set up, but the 1984+ trucks with the box filter has a pressure sensor built into it. turns the water in fuel light on when the filter is clogged.

Is there fresh fuel or oil around it? If it was the source of an air leak when running any fuel / oil under pressure should leak out when you shut off the engine I would think.

This is the most common air leak in a Military truck. The fuel pressure switch is only used in the military trucks for the diagnostics connection.
