This bulletin is to inform dealers that some vehicles may exhibit an inability to shift the transmission after operating in slush, snow or icy conditions. Investigation may show a build-up of ice on the transmission around the shift cable to manual shaft connection.

Thats more to protect the cable actually. I think it will do more harm then good on the nsbu as the ice may collect behind that shield and have a better chance of entering the switch.. just my opinion on that
