Does anybody know how much a visor mounted on the roof and protruding over the windshield affects MPG?
Anybody do a real world comparison, i.e. before and after?
TIA

My biggest concern with that mod would be the addition of wind noise. It's gotta have some effect on MPG although probably negligable. I don't personally like the look.

From first hand experience, they definately make more wind noise.
I have one on my truck now as it came equipped from the dealer. I like it better without.
I'm curious as I've been tracking MPG and was curious how much better it would be if I removed it.

Lance,
What kinda truck do you have(options) and what is your mileage with the visor on?

Actually I have an '02 Ford SuperCrew with the 5.4
My most recent mileage came out to 13.8 The visor has been on since new so I haven't been able to compare it to stock.
I'm in the market for a 2500HD Dmax and was just curious about whether or not to get one. I'm thinking not just because of wind noise, but the fuel mileage thing is a factor too.

I just took mine off...got tired of the noise & watching it shake all over at 70+. Haven't run a tank thru it yet, so I'm not sure how much the fuel milage suffered but I'm sure it will be noticed.

Lance,
I put a Lunar visor on my Dodge some year ago, I noticed about 2 mpg drop! Of course the Ford's areo package may change that quite a bit.

2 MPG sounds reasonable and accurate.
I don't think I'll be getting one on my new truck. The wind noise is the worst!

I have a visor "Lund" and do not notice any wind noise. It does not move even at 70 with a North Dakota wind. MPG...Same.
