Can anybody tell me what is in the front axle of the four wheel drive 2500HD's. Is it a one-legger, limited-slip or locker. I'm pretty sure the rear end lockers are made by Eaton. Does the locker engage only in four wheel drive or is it always working. Could somebody also verify this, too. This is for a GMC CC SB Diesel.

The front is a simple open dif. No limited or locker. You would not want that anyway unless you have a special application. It becomes quite dangerous with true 4x4.

You got that right! In my young and foolish past, I rolled a jeep with true 4x4 because the whole front end washed around http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

For the record, its made by American Axle. I know that Eaton has an aftermarket "E" locker out for the fronts. Very neat unit. Just push a button and its locked right up.. Easy install, but again, its a purpose used application.

Thanks for the 411 on the front end. What do you know about the rear-end, also. I like to do alot of off-roading and would like to know more about it.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif
