To those of you who have bin there dun that I've just received the new oil cooler and lines from L.S. and am wondering how nasty a job it is to put in. Anyone done the install? Is it a job i can do in say 4 hours and a six pack.

Also I've just installed SS diesel's improved fan/clutch assembly and while in there was surprised to see the amount of debris imbedded in the rad. Compressed air didn't do the job so i resorted to the pressure washer at half blast.

It took me about 3 hours total. Greg told me to remove my front driveshaft and oil filter adapter to make it easier. I first tried to remove the lines without bending them just in case but finally said forget it and bent one of them. I only ended up removing the drive shaft from the front diff. You won't be sorry you bought the kit. Still not even a seep from any of the kit. And the new lines go in a lot easier than the stock ones come out.

Don't even bother trying to get the lines out in one piece. Didn't take long before the sawzall got involved. Remove the front drive shaft is a must. You won't be able to get to the oil filter housing with it on.

Couple things that took some time:
I read or was told to put a slight angle on the adaptors that screw into the block.. Forget that.. You want to make the largest arc you can fit in that space or you won't be able to get your oil filter on without it rubbing against them.
Connecting the lines at the new radiator. The clips that hold the original lines don't work with the new hose. I forget what I did but that sucked up a few minutes playing with it.
I also used the existing motor mount hose holder for the new lines.

Removing the grill was fun too. Especially since I've never done that before. After removing all the screws look for the retaining tabs. I couldn't find them at first. Once I found them I couldn't understand what took so long to find them..

It's a fun project. You should be able to do it in 4hrs.. Depends on how fast you drink.. :)

Here's what i did:

- I cut a section out of an old socket that allowed me to use a ratchet to tighten the block fittings instead of a wrench.

- I followed Greg's advice and used RTV sealant on the oil adapter - no leaks yet.

- I would also pay attention to the line routing. I wasn't happy with how I routed the lines originally and spent a bunch of time getting them right through trial and error. I used plenty of zip ties to make sure the lines wouldn't rub on anything.

Overall I'm happy with the kit and HB7 cooler.
