Hey guys, I am wondering about differant oil filters. I found that the tall/deep filters (pf932,ph373,lf692 ect...) that hold 2qts of oil fit on the DMAX. I've been running one now for about two weeks no adverce conditions, running psi is 65 to 80 depending on temp and speed. idle is 40+ again depending on temp. my consern is from what I find these filters might not have bypass ability. am I safe in running these or should I go back to the ac2232 small filters???? Thank you for your input and advice in advance, Bill

I would say no way .... Without bypass ability IF clogging and or cold start oil pressure in the 80+ range oil starvation could occur....

I am a stickler for the OEM stuff. I figure if GM had to design a specific filter for the d-max, then thats the one I am using.

It would be great if it incorporated a internal bypass ... Could you give some additional info as in part number ??

Mackin, the acdelco number is PF932. Carquest is 85749, fleetguard is LF692, Framhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif is PH373 (have used this filter on all my pervious vehicles & never had a problem), Wix is 51794. Isn't the bypass only for if the filter gets plugged? as long as it's full flow, shouldn't it work normal ? or am I miss directed in thinking here? I ck'd on size of these: 13/16-16 and over 7 inches deep and same seal dia. thanx for checking and your time. . Eric, I always use The Generals parts, been my experiance in the past that they always leave room for improvment, look at how alot of gm parts are intercahngable thats why I always have been gm. otherwise if I wanted to add something I'd just go buy new POS from the other guys. I apreciate everyones help and enjoy reading through both sites you guys have as I find it very informative.Edited by: AkDually61

well, due to some unforseen events had to put dino oil in this time. no pressure problems. took second to get filter filled. I run around 75 psi running and 45 at idle. wlley now has the mobil truck/suv at 4.77 qt so i am stocking up to change back to syn in 3k. am going to stick with the pf932 unless I hear bad juju on them. Will continue to watch for info from Eric. Billy

Hey Eric, Mackin, GMCSid...... ANY WORD YET? started getting my case of Mobil truck/SUV together to so I can get back on syn oil. that dino stuff just Sux. Unless there is another problem, my milage has dropped and the engine seems a little noisier than on the syn stuff. Paitently waiting. Billy
