It appears my SES light has gone into retirement. How much of a PITA is it to change? Never had the dash out yet.

Hell, you wore it out. Darn thing was running like a strobe light there at one time. Dash is always a pain, but you can do it.

Yeah, it went out today, thought my problems were cured....lol. But then i noticed it didn't come on with the ignition on initial start :(

I haven't hardly driven it with the SES on though, thats the problem, didn't think it would burn out on me though. Stupid P0380!

not that big of a deal. as you know dash pretty much pops off, then there is about 6 7mm's that hole the gauge cluster in, then whole thing will pull towards you. it's labeled on the back of cluster... I took my bulb out... i don't like it to tell me that it's not happy! I just periodically check codes and check them when somethings not right, prob not best idea but did it before when everything was still "S" and kept getting MAF errors and EGR malfunction. Might put it back next time i have dash appart.

CR the front of the dash just "pops" off and there are screws holding the dash cluster in. The whole thing comes out and there are small "blue" looking turnouts on my 97 that are the lights. I had a dash light out behind the speedo and took maybe 10 minutes to do. Only PITA is getting the the dash cover out over the gearshift and steering column.

Maybe you're so used to having it on that when it went it out you assumed it was broken?:D How about installing a service service engine soon light light?

Better, slice in a three-way switch to have full control over the SES light: off, normal operation, on :)

BTW, any LEDs available as a replacement for the gauge lights? Or something to have the display all red instead of white? One of the lights behind the speedo is out on mine, and I'm about to replace all of the bulps when I am at it.

I would love to have it in red :)

Very good link, thanks! I'll have to see if I can get LEDs like that here, never seen those before ...
