I have a friend who purchased a 2004 LB7 in February and has had this problem ever since. After leaving the dealership the "Service Brake" indicater light came on about five miles down the road. They took it right back and the techs couldn't get a code. Now they are saying that GM engineers are working on a fix. After six weeks the light is still on. They have called the "customer service" number and get told the same thing there. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

I have had my service brake message come up on mine at startup - they gave me the same "line". I asked them to check the ground wire from the brake controller - I don't think they did this because it did the same thing a week later...
Per a tech here on the board - there is a ground wire for the anti-lock brake controller that is connected to the frame - sometimes it doesn't make good contact due to the undercoating on the frame; Scrape off the undercoating at this location and reattach ground wire.
If this doesn't do it, I would strongly suggest that the anti-lock brake controller be swapped out - unless there are some sensors that they suggest they replace first...

Thanks Jeff. I'll pass that along.

By the way, mine does it once every couple of months on startup - I think because I have my foot lightly on the brake when I turn the ignition; If I turn off the ignition, take my foot off the brake and restart - no service brake message on the DIC...
If mine did it while driving down the road - I would be all over their butt to fix it...

Condition

Some customers may comment that the ABS light is on. Upon further inspection, DTCs C0265 and C0201 may be set in the brake module. It is also possible for DTC U1041 to set in other modules. There may also be a loss of communication with the brake module.

DO NOT REPLACE THE BRAKE MODULE.
Perform the following steps to improve the connection of the G110 ground:

Thanks everyone. Sure would be nice if it is just a bad ground!

I cleaned my ground and mine will do it every once and awhile at startup still.
BUT only if the brake pedal is being pushed on startup. not sure why this makes a difference but like someone else said if I shut it off and restart without touching the brake....Good to Hook.
