: goes flat during acceleration
black max 2 04-17-2006, 08:57 AM I have a 2001 2500 Chevrolet LB7, was cruising at 60mph, engine light came on, seemed fine. Stepped on throttle engine went flat wouldn`t pull more than 60. shut down restarted ran fine no problems light was still on.Light went off a few rides later. Any ideas?
150,000 miles
lakingslayer 04-17-2006, 09:51 AM Sounds like a P1093. You should get it scanned for codes to see if that's what happened. How many miles on the fuel filter?

I think you hit the nail on the head.
DURYMCGEE 04-17-2006, 10:14 AM Change your fuel filter
eggsack 04-17-2006, 10:20 AM That is the same thing my truck did when it was time for new injectors. It only limps when put under a load. Go to a trusted Dealer and get them replaced.
Kennedy 04-17-2006, 10:27 AM Check for codes too.
The 2001 had a goofy knack for setting phantom limp modes generally believed to be due to a perceived overboost condition.

What is p1093

Do a search and you'll find lots of info on this topic.
DURYMCGEE 04-17-2006, 02:34 PM Basically starving the engine for fuel
black max 2 04-17-2006, 07:11 PM Thanks guys, I`ll check it out.
danb303 04-18-2006, 09:18 AM I had the same problem and did tons of reading on this sight about what it could be and here is a little of what I remember:
it is probably setting an p0093 code that is a large fuel leak or low fuel rail pressure. (you can search 0093 on this sight and find out more)
1 the most common thing you are you going to hear is fuel filter. if it is restricted it will cause the lack of fuel to the injector pump causing the low fuel rail pressure. $30 plus labor
2. The next thing you will hear is the fuel pressure regulator. (located on the back of the injection pump) It will also cause a surging idle.$325 plus labor
3. and then there is the injection pump itself. It just can't keep up the pressure. $1800 plus labor
4.lets don't forget about the fuel rail pressure sensor 175 plus labor.
5.There is some kind of pressure relief valve that returns fuel back to the tank when the pressure gets too high and when this goes bad or the spring gets weak it can open and cause too much fuel to return to the tank causing the injection pump to not be able to keep up. get a new one or shim your old one$? this is not supposed to be a big problem with the 01s
6.And of course it can be the injectors themselves.... If they have a high return rate they will cause too much fuel to return to the tank. $4500 unless you are under warranty.
I spent hours reading on this topic and that is what I have found. So, I hope this saves you time. I am not a mechanic and all the info that I have provided I got off of this web site and from my local dealers.
Now all that said. Mine is at the dealer now getting new injectors due to this same problem. I will let you know if it corrects the problem
danb303 04-18-2006, 09:20 AM I also forgot to mention you can search limp mode, rpm limit, etc on this sight and find tons of info.
I will say the people on this sight are very helpful and will assist you in any way they can

What is p1093
p1093 is the same code as the p0093. If I understand it correctly. They changed the code to p1093 in 02 or 03 yours will probably show a 0093
black max 2 04-18-2006, 10:27 PM Thanks for all the input, I`ll work on it, very helpfull.
How do I test the injectors?

Take it to your dealer and have them check your balance rates, or just take it in and tell them there was fuel in your crankcase, and they will check it
danb303 04-20-2006, 08:42 AM It seems that the injectors have fixed mine. I sure hope so. I will pull my trailer this weekend and I should know for sure.
curry4113 04-20-2006, 09:52 AM bring it to the dealer, because they have the right tests to see whats wrong with your truck i wasted hundreds of dollors on other ppl (service stations that were highly recommended for diesels) when i should of went to the dealer, my truck brought up the same code and was doing the same thing as your truck, it ended up being the injector pump and was fixed within a couple of hours, they (the dealer) figured out what the problem was in about 20 mins, when the other service places were taking hours cause they dont know the right tests. the total cost for my tuck to get fixed was about 2000 but the new pump is warrentied when you bring it to the dealer for a year and my truck works awsome again! so good luck whith yours just had to warn ya to go to the dealer right away befor you loose money, like what happened to me just 2 weeks ago.
black max 2 04-22-2006, 06:49 PM I`ll take it there just as soon as i have two grand, still running and acting up, thanks
danb303 04-23-2006, 06:37 PM it was the injectors. I pulled my trailer this weekend and it performed great.......
RickDLance 04-23-2006, 06:50 PM black max 2 , where are you located? Maybe a member in the area can scan your truck for codes and check your injectors?
