Today while driving at about 5500 ft. I passed a motorhome that used a turnout (it was going 35 mph). I did not accelerate much at all. Felt a few thumps/hicups. Wife looked at me like what was that? Truck down shifted reved to 3000 and would not shift up at all. Check engine light came on steady not flashing. Found a safe place to pull over. Checked engine oil, checked for fuel in filter and trans fluid, all OK. Shut it off and restarted it. Trans was slipping BAD. Disconnected Batteries for about 15 min. Started up went into gear just fine, still had engine light. Started to drive back down the hill. Had wife pull the book from the glove box. (Steady light - Emission, Fuel and/or ignition problem). Pulled over checked cap on fuel tank-OK. Trans slipped and clunked again. All down hill to the local dealer. Shut it off at the dealer filled out the paperwork for Mon. repair. Started it to move in the shop and went into gear no trans slip, just the engine light. :confused: :help:

Sounds like you limped it. I would guess that you have a torque converter going bad. Call me at the shop tomorrow or on my cell tonight and I will help you. 310 918 9678-cell. Shop # in signature.

so if it limped it and he ttok it to the dealer and it was just a light did the computer detect a fault and then fixed itself but left the cel?

No. A harness came loose from the transmission. Codes did not clear.

Ive had the same exact thing happen to me shut off engine disconected battery started back up cel went of and ran fine...I was freakin!

Exact same thing happened to me. Went to dealer to check out, said a power valve was bad? ordered and replaced. Still had same problem. Once engine and tranny are cold it seems to reset itself. I found that if I got on it after trans and engine were warm it would limp every time. After a couple more trips to the dealer, they decided to pull the tranny. Will post a follow up.
