I would like to know the load range of the tires that came on your GM3500 dually, especially the 2004 model. Have ordered a 3500 dually but the GMBuypower.com site only shows LT215/85R16 load range D available, but I have seen some posts that say their truck came with the E load range tires. If your truck came from the factory with the E load range tires please let me know....thanks.

Could it have something to do with cab configuration? Reg Cab dually's getting D's and Ext and Crews getting E's?

Snowplow prep or not? That could matter. On/Off road or not? Could also matter.

Rear axle wise you'll be fine with D's. Its the fronts that I'd like the stability of an E rated tire.

My 04 CC Dually is fresh off the assy line (picked it up last week). It has load range E . They are the on/off road tires.

Well, the mystery has been solved ! My dealership salesman called me this morning, after i called him yesterday to ask him about the load range tire issue. He called the factory and indeed they do install load range E tires on new 3500 trucks...but, only on 4WD trucks ! Seems the 2WD trucks come with the D range tire and there was nothing he could do to change it, he asked the factory people if they could put E range on the truck and we would pay the difference they told him NO. So there ya go, sometimes even $ does not work. Guess I will wear out the D's and replace them with E's...we learn something new every day.

Seehunt,

Some tire shops will take your tires on trade if you do a deal within a day or so of getting your truck. You might start visiting some shops see if they are interested and then when you find some who is willing to deal with you, have them order the tires you want and drive straight from the dealer and get your new shoes.
