I was wondering if there was anyone other than banks that made a turbo kit for the 6.2 engine. I have one but it does'nt look like a banks kit. Just wonderinf who made it or if banks had an older stye kit the used to sell, need some replacement parts.

ATS made a kit for the 6.2 http://www.atsturbo.com/. I don't think it is avaialble as a kit any longer but most of the parts are available individually. Here's a pic of the ATS components. One major difference between ATS & Banks is the Turbo is in the middle of the exhaust manifold on the ATS and at the front on the Banks.

that is an ATS kit. i have one on my 2wheel drive truck and love it. makes a difference you can really feel. Can't say for the Banks, been to long since I drove one of those, but I have one sitting here to go on my 4x4 soon as i get time.

I have the ATS Kit shown 2 replies above. I love the kit other then I had to jack the passenger side of the motor up about 4 inches to get the big ass manifold on though. Another upgrade you can do to the ATS kit is replace the .96 turbo exhaust housing with a .81 housing. Will spool up quicker and giver you some more boost. I talked to one of the guys at ATS and he did this to his blazer and also added a bigger pump. He said he got a 100,000 more miles after he added that stuff until he blew a head gasket. He also said he would take the exhaust temp to 1200 degrees when pulling. So if you kept the temps to around 1000 degrees I think the motor could live a long time.

Well I finally got this kit on and it works very well big difference, haven't turned the pump up yet so I'm only seeing 900 on the pyro for now but just wanted to be safe for the first little while, getting 6 psi of boost out of it. Best upgrade I've done so far.

FOR SALE

I have a BANKS system (the whole kit) on my 6.2, 1984 chevy dually, I think it is the sidewinder kit, and I would be willing to give it up-along with the recently rebuilt engine (that the cranshaft just snapped in half on). the engine has been APR studed, the heads are perfect, the engine had tons of power. I put a Lance camper in the bed, hooked up my 18' ski boat loaded up my wife and three sons, and everything for the weekend, and if you are familliar with california, I would take this entire rig up and over the grape vine (no problem). i would like to get $1500.00 for everything or trade for a solid 396, 454 gas engine.

Thank you.

I bought a used 454 for $300.00, and I am very surprised with how nice it is. I can not waut to go through it and stuff it in my truck. Still have a few questions about the conversion, But oh well, I will deal with that when I get there.

Thank you for the reply.

Hey Mark,

I'd be interested in the turbo. Actually both but I'm in Florida and it would cost too much to ship the engine. Let me know how much for the turbo at tzuk95@yahoo.com
