Ray403Dmax 04-12-2004, 01:28 AM Another change for the hood and grill? I suppose the little funny tweaks are supposed to give previous model customers an impression of obsolesence.
It will be interesting to see the new full change over, in '06?
Mackin 04-12-2004, 06:07 AM Good info ...
Thanks ...

MaxumDuramax 04-12-2004, 05:36 PM I rekon that the dark blue will look like the color thats now avaiable on the Avalanche, not like the Indigo Blue, Hopefully the flares will match and not black.
duramaxdiesel 04-12-2004, 06:30 PM Are there any pics of the new front end anywhere??
bowtiebob 04-13-2004, 02:20 AM Looks like the dark blue is the same as the one on the Avalanche, after checking out the Avalanche site. I sure would have loved to have that sunroof, but otherwise I don't see this making '03-'04 people too worried. The guys with the '01-'02 would probably say the earlier the truck the better, as the General makes them look worse each time. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

The Late 04 (after 12/03 manufacture date) Avalanche uses the same 25U Dark metalic blue.
Lawnboy 04-13-2004, 07:58 AM Can anyone confirm rumours that ALL gas engines will go to ALUMINUM blocks in '05?
Read that somewhere online, and it sounded feasable, but haven't heard anything more about it.
Chevyfreek 04-13-2004, 08:22 AM The dark blue is better than the blue that is out now in my opinion. The Sun Roof is a nice option as well. I have not heard anything about the all aluminum blocks for the Chevy Motors in 05'. I would love to see some pictures of what the 05's are going to look like. Hopefully they will be released soon.

I do love the look of the 01'-02' HD's better, but I am impartial givin the fact I own one. The 03'-04' model have grown on me though. I really want to see what the new HD's for 05' are going to look like since there will be a difference again between the LD's and HD's. Well in 06' from what I hear they will be an all new platform. Time will tell the tale...
Reineke 04-14-2004, 06:30 PM From reading about the 03 and 04 some people just don't like them. Somedays I really like it and others I don't. Lift them 4" (or more) with wider larger tires and that front end comes alive. I can't wait to see the front end also, I hope GM can pull off a good design. I think the next new Silverado will be available at the end of 06 as a MY 07. I also read that the Suburban and the Tahoe will be getting a DVD based navigation system. Since I think the interior between the trucks are the same/similar, I wonder if the Silverado will be getting it also. It would be nice. I also hope we get some cooler colors... anyway, until more info comes out....
ROBZUK 04-14-2004, 09:19 PM I was kinda skeptical about the look of the new front end until I saw one in Green. That was the end for me, had to have one.

nassdmax 04-14-2004, 10:49 PM The Aluminum block you are referring to would be the Gen IV engine. It is not an '05 upgrade, sometime later...
Your DVD Nav system is already available in the Escalade.
You'll be waiting longer than you think for the new HD pickups. As was the case with the current model, the HD for the new model is last.
Did GM unveil the '05 chevys at the NY Auto Show this week? Maybe GM is waiting until the Louisville truck show???

Are we going to be waiting for the '05 HD's or the next Generation Silverado's? Thanks for your reply!
bowtiebob 04-16-2004, 02:39 AM When they made the major switch in 1999 to the 2000 style, they didn't switch the HDs until the year after for MY2001. However, they both switched over at the same time for '03. I doubt for a refresh like this there will be much difference in time.
GMC2500HD 04-17-2004, 02:32 AM Did anyone ever see the pics of what the new trucks were going to look like? I was in the stealership the other day and overheard them talking about a new hood and some mods to the front end. Not sure but never know.
Reineke 04-17-2004, 07:34 PM I have not seen any pictures yet, I think they are waiting until they have sold the MY04's before releasing any information. I can't wait to see what they will look like. This anticipation is killing me...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
Ray403Dmax 04-17-2004, 08:44 PM Yea, I'd be surprised if the dealers would even talk about what's different than what's on the showroom floor.
partsguy662 04-17-2004, 08:50 PM If you guys want to see what the new silverado looks like. Check out this month Automobile magazine. They have a picture....The jury is out, in my eyes. But, at first glance, it looks like a muscle bound Colorado...

Are you referring to the one that has the Chevrolet Cheyenne concept and says that this is the direction the Chevrolet Silverado will be taking or is there a new one out there?
http://www.new-cars.com/concept/2003/photos/chevrolet-cheyenne-concept.jpg
This is a picture of the Chevrolet Cheyenne concept that was in the Automobile magazine that I saw.
JRKRACE 04-18-2004, 01:24 PM I was at the NY AUTO SHOW this past Wed. and I did not see anything new in the GMC or Chevy corral. They were pushing the new 1/2 ton Crew and the Colorado. No new trucks. But wow, the new Corvette is hot. Great show overall until I got banged for 45.00 to park my truck. Oh well, that's New York...

So for will that sunroof be available for the '04 models or only the '05? If for the '04, when will it become available?

If I understand correctly, they will start production for the model year 05 in the middle of this year. I think they stopped taking orders of the MY04's this week. The sunroof will be available for the MY05's, but won't be available until later in the year.Edited by: Reineke
3500LLY 04-20-2004, 01:34 AM 25U Dark metallic blue, that's probably like the blue that was on the 01's and 02's isn't it?
ChevyHDGert 04-20-2004, 11:25 AM No, that was indigo blue.
The new dark metallic blue is the blue they currently use on Tahoes, Suburbans, Avalanches, Yukons and Yukon XL's.
HVACDIESEL 04-29-2004, 06:25 PM Any updates on 05 HD curious about looks little brother is looking.

It is funny how if GM does not change for several years people gripe that they are saving money by selling an old look, then if they change every couple years, people say they are trying to make people want a new one due to theirs looking out dated.
I own an 02 that was purchased after the 03`s came out, so I had a choice at the time. Still to this day I know with out a doubt that I made the right choice.

You are one year off! the change was in 98 as an 99. In the model year 99 they had the new style and what was called a 99 classic. The 3/4 ton and larger normally comes out 2-4 years after the 1/2 tons.
In April 1987 GM came out with the then new style 88`s and the 3/4 ton truck wasn`t out until something like 90 or 91.
Reineke 04-30-2004, 10:33 PM There are no updates as of yet. I thought there may be something out by now. I do know for a fact that by July 1st, we will know everything about it. It's funny, just about everything else for the MY05 is out, except the only one I am interested in. I read everyday for updates and a picture, so I will post something as soon as I know it.
I think it would be cool to have the express van nose on it with the HD hood, but then the truck may get a reputation of borrowing designs. ie: the silverado/avalanche noses.

nassdmax 05-02-2004, 09:58 AM Long lead dealer release will have all the information that we are looking for. The dealers are usually the ones to know about these. I would think any day...
Silveradogs 05-03-2004, 08:58 AM Regarding the '88 trucks in 3/4 Ton...

Not to pounce on you but what's been replaced on the 267,000 mile truck?
whatnot 05-04-2004, 01:24 AM It was only the crew cabs, Blazers, Suburbans (and maybe cab & chassis 3500) that stayed the old style after '88. They changed them to the new style for the '92 model year. (blazers and suburbans didn't get diesel till '94)
The 1/2 tons and LD 3/4 tons were changed for '99 model year, subs and tahoes were changed in 2000 and HD trucks in 2001.
salmon slayer 05-04-2004, 05:59 AM My 88 K2500 was nearly flawless mechanically when I sold it at 160k. The trouble with it was that it had electrical problems that nobody could figure outhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif So I just couldn't trust the dang thing. Parts: 1 starter, 1 water pump, 1 thermostat, 1 alternator. Also put in a new ECM and wiring loom that didn't do squat. My tire guy told me that it needed work on the front end. I don't recall what, but it always steered stright, rode nice, and wore tires just fine. I beat the crap out of it too. Now I baby my $40k diesel luxury liner. --SS

Silveradogs 05-04-2004, 09:38 AM ooops, Forgot the Fuel Pump, and of course the numerous Filters, Plugs, Wire sets, etc.
Windshield Washer Tank, & 2 Pumps, Cross Drilled Front Rotors to help with the wimpy brakes on the truck, they really cut out the warping that was an annual occurrance.
Ran Synthetic in all Power Units, Motor to rear Diff.
