: question for the tech's out there...2003+ truck data bus systems

alright...so my super multitasking bench harness kinda backfired.

TCM and ECM work fine because they have dedicated ignition wires. Their "wake up" function is not slaved to the BCM. However all the body devices I found out ARE slaved to the BCM. Meaning, even if they have power, they will not "wake up" without a Class II data signal from the BCM. I hooked up my amp and nav units to the Bench harness, but it simply says "no communication with vehicle, check ignition on/off" DOH!!!!Censored I was worried about this in the back of my mind. Maybe if I hook an amp and radio up at the same time they can tell eachother to "WAKE UP" and not need a BCM? I dunno, but it looks like ill need a 2003+ GMT-800 BCM for this project to work. Do any tech's know this for sure? Is there any other way to "bench test" a radio or force it to power up without a dedicated Class II signal? If all else fails I guess I can buy a BCM on ebay or something. Does anyone have any part numbers for me?:D I assume theres about 80 #'s for the same BCM knowing GM:rolleyes:

can anyone help me out, or better yet, does anyone have a 2003+ GMT-800 BCM for sale???

-Ben

oh I dont need a nudy bar. I have st lawrence freshman orientation.

I wont go into details, but it entails the freshman gathering around the quad for a speech from the president, but almost every year the seniors "crash" it and every one of them runs across the quad naked. Probably the first and last time ill ever get literally run over by 200 naked girls.

woohoo just bought an '04 Tahoe BCM for 45 dollars!

time to get this bench harness in action

Alright got my BCM. Its in mint condition! Hey for 45 bucks im not complaining! Its out of a Tahoe so it should work fine. Theres 6 connectors on it, but I think I only need the C2 and C4 connectors. C2 has the Class II serial data, battery positive, and ground wires. C4 has the ignition 1 wire.

Heres the million dollar question. Are those the only connectors and wires I need? There are like 3 more connectors on the BCM that ALSO have battery + and ground wires. (why GM, why?) They are the same circuits as shown on the wiring diagrams, so why does the BCM have multiple battery + and ground wires??? Do I need to get all 6 connectors and hook up EVERY battery + and ground wires? Or can I get away with just giving ONE of those connectors Battery+ and ground connections?
