: 3500SRW vs. 3500DRW front wheel hubs
elvis_knows 04-11-2006, 07:15 PM What is the difference between 3500SRW and 3500DRW front wheel hubs?
I assume the 3500 dually front hubs protrude farther out, which why the offset on the front wheels is different. Is that correct?
Would it be possible to take a 3500 chassis cab, but use only single rear wheels, and retain the option to go to dual rear wheels if the need arises?
I know that there's also the pickup bed delete option, but I have another reason for asking.
elvis_knows 04-13-2006, 07:51 PM Do the 3500 dually front hubs protrude farther out than the 3500SRW & 2500HD?
Nobody has any info on this?
ockgator 04-14-2006, 10:00 PM There's a spacer on the dooley hubs the SRW doesn't have... In other words... same hub

Thanks! I guess they did this so all the wheels are the same even though two had to fit together on the rear, huh?
So, the 16"X7" 3500SRW wheels should work OK if used singly on a 3500 DRW, right?
The chassis cab only comes as a dually, but is available in longer wheelbases (137"+) with a regular cab than the 133" w.b. SRW. The chassis cab also offers a factory rear fuel tank, too.
ockgator 04-15-2006, 11:16 PM the offset and spacer is so all the wheels are the same front and rear... you should have no problems running a single wheel on a dooley rear, it's been done for years.
If you use SRW wheel on front of dooley it'll stick wayyyyyyyyyy out there
STPETEBLUE 04-15-2006, 11:33 PM If you use SRW wheel on front of dooley it'll stick wayyyyyyyyyy out there:exactly:And he won't be able to steer without major wheel well rubbing.

Since you're saying the SRW wheels work OK on the rear, that spacer must be on the front hubs only, correct? ___ If so, can that spacer on the front hubs be removed? __ Then will the 16"x7" 3500SRW wheels work OK on the front?
ockgator 04-16-2006, 08:54 PM let me recheck myself on a dooley, just to make sure I'm giving the right info, don't want to mislead
elvis_knows 04-20-2006, 01:28 AM I will await your update.
wrsjorel 04-20-2006, 10:05 PM check out the pictures of Bigblackdmax's truck .it looks like he's running regular front rims & tires .Looks good too.

Can it be made to fit on a 2500HD?
If anyone can give me part numbers and any info, please PM me with the info. Thanks.
ockgator 04-21-2006, 05:36 PM the hubs are different between the SRW and DRW. The main difference being the spacer is attached to the hub with short bolts, while the SRW hub has the long studs, guess you could pop out the short bolts and re install wheel studs for SRW applications, our NAPA catalog doesn't show either hub.
As for the fuel tank, it goes where the spare is, I'm sure you can get a tank, straps and lines from GM but a supertank replacement may be $$ ahead.
elvis_knows 04-21-2006, 06:08 PM Thanks for the info on the hubs. It looks like the "Bigblackdmax" was able to remove the spacers and use aftermarket wheels intended for a SRW.
As for the rear fuel tank, it just so happens that those rear tanks are very inexpensive (like $30) from partstrain.com, so it's a lot less expensive than the larger aftermarket tanks, but it is much more of a DIY project.
