Hello all,
I am looking at buying a '97 Chevy Silverado 2500 4X4. This truck has the 6.5L turbo and 4.10 rear end. I am not sure of the tranny. While test driving the truck on the highway I noticed that at about 63 miles per hour the tach was reading 3000 rpm. Is this normal for this truck and set up?
Thanks for your time, Todd

My '98 Dually was running aroung 58 mph @ 2,000 rpm. It had a 6.5L, auto trans with 4:10 rear.

My '92 2500 was running around 65 mph @ 2,000 rpm. It had a 6.5L, auto trans with 3:43 rear.

I hope that helps bro.

Tach is probably off as it takes its signal from the alternator pulley. Hooking up a scanner will probably tell a different story as it takes its signal from the CPS i think.
