i need to get a new cold air intake. the one i have is to small. i want one that is at least 4" in diameter. i want the afe, but i hear things about the paint falling off inside the tube. do they offer a plastic tube or is there another company out there, or what do you guys have?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I have decided to go with Airaid. They offer a plastic tube and complete filter setup. I would look into to and see what you think. www.airaid.com (http://www.airaid.com)

They have all kinds of nice stuff. Fun to look at too.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

I was under the impression that they are all the same, would think 3.5 or 4 inches.

I would not eliminate the AFE based on the one or two post of finish coming off. Local dealer says he has never had one come back for any reason. I would surely put the Progard7 filter on it though.

The K&N intake system has a plastic tube, heat shield and cone filter. I've got this setup and have no complaints about it. I'm sure it doesn't look as flashy as the polished tube, but it does as good a job as any. They are starting to come out with polished tubes also, but I don't think it's available for the Duramax just yet.

I have the airaid on my DMAX, great fit , well made and works well. The actual filter size is much larger than the AFE.

i would like a 4" diameter tube because the aem one that i have is only 3.5" and i peg my filter indicator out at half to three quarters throttle. how big is the K&N one?
