I've seen a lot of impressive runs in the kills forum where the winning trucks usually seem to just jump and run away from the competition. Now are these trucks all 4 WD or are some of these trucks 2WD or dually. I would think if someone is sitting at a stoplight and power braking to build boost, they would have to be 4WD to keep from just spinning like just about any car out there would do.
And is there a big difference between what a 4WD Dmax would do vs what a 2WD Dmax would do in the quarter on street tires?
Lots of questions, but just curious.

Yes there is a big difference between a 4wd launch and a 2wd spin launch. My buddy runs 15.3 1/4mile in 2wd and he ran a 14.5 in the 1/4 in 4wd with his Duramax. In 4wd his truck jumps off the line hard while in 2wd he spins a bit. So yes with street tires there is a big diff, But a 2wd with some tires that can get it to hook; who knows?? Probably the 2wd. OH ya my buddly doesn't do 4wd lanches anymore because his front diff went out, it cost him somthing like $1500 to get it fixed. They figured the launches wrecked it?

So I wonder how does all these guys trucks hold up to all those 4X4 launches

Blue has 400 or 500 4wd launches. I did add pitman/idler support kit about 6-8 months ago to go with the SD sleeves. But that might be because I stole Casper's rims and they have a weird offset. McRat also just did the front wheel bearings. But I have also seen people that don't drag race also having to replace them. Blue has 50+k on him.
