I won a nice set of 17" Chrome Hummer Wheels on EBay and now I need to start getting serious about new tires. I've been searching the fourms, but I just wanted to ask...

Here are my requirements:

Needs to fit without Mods
Must be well suited for towing.
This truck is my daily driver, noise is a consideration.
Gotta look cool...

Thanks,

Look for 285 or 265s, should be a 70 series

I'm running 305's but probably not best for you if you tow a lot. The 265's in my opinion might look too narrow for that wide of a wheel. And you really haven't gained much by going to the 17, as a 265 runs fine on stock wheels.

285/70-17 is about the same diameter as a 285/75-16 (32.7-32.8).
Should look good and fit well.

Even a 265 wouldn't be bad, the stock tire/rim on the Tundra TRD is a 16x8 with 265/70-16.

IMO, I like to stay with an E rated tire for towing, which may limit you to a 265 tire, but many seem to tow with a 285D and say they’re OK.
Below are the only 17E tires that I’m aware of.

What is important is not the designation, it's the actual weight capacity.

The BFG AT/KO 245 'E' is rated for a touch over 3k.
The BFG AT/KO 285 'D' is rated for a touch over 3.3k.

RichLockyer is right. bfg at in 285/70/17 D still carries more than stock 245/75/16E.

Thanks for the input guys,
I stopped at NTB after work tonight and looked at the BFG's. I'm really leaning towards the 265's. I'll keep you informed.
