hey everyone im new to the site and new to diesels. i am looking at getting a 2001 silverado k2500hd duramax. i found a ext. cab that has 143,xxx miles and they are asking $14,500. What do you think of the price? ive been doing some research on these trucks and have come across the problem with the injectors many times. are there any other known problems that people have had with this year truck?

Another thing that concerns me is this talk about limping. is it possible to limp a bone stock truck? i havent been able to get ahold of this guy yet but in the description of the truck it says "has the edge system for better fuel mileage.."

what are some things to check for if i go and look at this truck?

drive it and don't take it easy on it. If you can drive it up a good hill drive it pretty hard up the hill. If it has a limping issue it should do it going up the hill.
I have found that if it limps there is about 5 or 6 things it could be so stay away from it. Just my 2 cents.
Also make sure the tranny dosn't get too hot while you are driving

Take the VIN to a dealer and ask if they would pull the maintenance record for you.

Discontinuing OnStar, don't use it at all, costs to much and there's to many dead area's. They did offer to lower cost from $16.95 to #12.95. Said I would keep it for $.25 a day but they said no.

Price sounds good.
Already having a tuner would bother me.
Do the VIN check
Also ,some 01s had head gasket issues.
