this is my first time on here, not sure if this is the place to ask but here it goes. I have 103k on my '02 Dmax, maint says its time for a coolant flush. I've talked to the dealer about whether to stay w/dexcool or to replace w/green stuff. Response was "some swear by dex, some hate it". I then talked to a coolant shop and he told me to get rid of dex asap and replace w/ green stuff. OK who do I listen to? Any advice would be of great help. thanx

My choice would be a product formulated for Diesel engines. Gas and Diesel engines have different oil needs and they have different coolant needs.

Fleetguard makes coolant for Diesels, (others aswell), I would talk to a Cummins or Cat dealer.

IMHO.

idahofox---have you heard of the coolant made by Amsoil? It's a propylene glycol antifreeze. It is low toxicity and good for 250000 or seven years. I replaced the dexicool with this a year ago in my 6.5--seems fine!

I didn't know Amsoil marketed coolant. Have to check that out, thanks.
