Well I have searched and searched and searched and it seems the best exhaust upgrade winner is MBRP,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ahhhh no wait the real winner is Magnaflow errrr,,,,,,,,, well the winner is aaahhh...

O crap who knows, everyone forgive me for asking but I really don't want a he said she said on who's got the best performance, but between the two which system has the least noise/drone.
The drone is the what I really can't stand what ever system would have no drone is the one for me. Some noise is OK I just don't want the big turbo whine like a straight piped system. ( sounds like they have a wheeze ;) )

I have reasonable ( read local ) access to these two brands so they would be the best choice for me, but I could be open to purchase something else if the motivation was there.

So whats the verdict folks who has the best system? J/K :D

If you don't want sound stay away from Magnaflow. They are pretty loud. My vote is for MBRP, not just because its what I have, but because I know how loud the Magnaflows are.

I've been happy with my Magnaflow - no drone and no complaints from the wife and kids. With the windows down I do hear the turbo whine, but I don't mind that. I haven't heard or been in a truck with an MBRP so I can't compare.

Really sounds near stock at idle in the cab. Cruising speeds its a little louder with a lower tone than stock. WOT its pretty loud.

If that helps any which I doubt it does.

Sorry, gotta disagree about Magnaflows being really loud. The wife (the ultimate sound police) has never complained about the exhaust on my truck. Don't know about the clamp issue, mine's welded.

From my searches I have done I was of the impression that MBRP was overall loader than Magnaflow... Is this correct?

As before though, the noise isn't to big of a concern over drone. I want this mod for towing my trailer (see avatar) to lower exhaust temperatures for a future power adder, and the keeper of the cash in no way would authorize a withdrawal for a roof rattling exhaust system.
BUT if it's only load outside or has manners while pulling I think I would sell her, on this purchase. :rockit:

MBRP is going to be louder than the Magnaflow kit, hands down. We have had a few complaints with MBRP and drone, zero with Magnaflow. If you get drone with the MBRP kit, you can always add the resonator. If you have any questions, give us a call.

I currently have the 4" Magnaflow on mine. I have also driven DuratotheMax's (Ben's) MBRP truck. I couldnt believe how much quieter his was than mine. Mine has a drone at 55-65. Frankly, I'm sick of it and I bought just the MBRP muffler from Bubba on this site. I havent gotten a chance to get it installed but I cant wait to do so. I hope I lose the drone. How much are the resonators going for?

I have the MBRP and thought the sound was nice, BUT there was still a slight drone. Installed the resonator and now its quieter than stock and EGTs are as low as can be expected. And wife likes it much better too.....

Ordered the MBRP today I guess I'll find out how load it is for myself..........:muahaha:

O well the wife didn't mind when I had the hotrod with the glass packs 20 years or so ago when she met me. ;)

Thanks for all the input every one I have to say it really did help to make my decision.

Kelly.

For what its worth I have the 4 magnaflow cat back on mine, and to tell you the truth it is not loud enough for me, grant it I have 35' bfg mudders so I assume there roar on the pavement kills some of my exhaust note, but my friend just strait piped his 05 dodge CTD and it sounds like a Peterbilt opening a can of whoop *** when you stomp on it!

Mark:
I checked out the website. I have actually come across it before. I'm switching from Magnaflow to MBRP. I dont need any of the tubing and I allready have the muffler. I didnt however, find any resonators.
Thanks.

IMO the cummins trucks sound like that regardless of what exhaust or lack of exhaust they have other than stock. Every truck I've seen, or heard has been LOUD.

Dieseltrucker, I know what you mean about those cummings with exhaust systems. They sound pretty good. Would love to come close to that sound on my truck.

This Duramax is the quietest truck I have owned.

I Have The Mbrp, And My Buddy Has A Magnaflow. I Have Some Drone In The Cab, But Mostly Under A Heavy Load. The Magnaflow Is Louder Than The Mbrp.
