I've got just about 500 miles on the new baby. Love this truck!

Going to take a 5,000 mile trip starting next week to head back East to pick up a new Cedar Creek fifth wheel. I think I would like to change the oil and filter before I go. What are recommendations?

1. Brand of oil and filter? Walmart?

2. How about the rear differential?

3. Front differential?

4. Transfer case? Hell...I don't even know what a transfer case is...Is it different than the front differential? I could read the manual, I guess. I guess I will.

Anyways, where's the best place to get good products at a reasonable price?

Thanks, much.

I took mine to dealer for first oil change. They did it for free, plus filled up my fuel tank. I used stock everything for first oil change.

Just make sure you do both the front and rear differentials. Even at 500 miles, you'll be amazed at the amount of "fur" on the drain plugs. I used 75w90 valvoline synthetic in the front and rear. Use mobil, gm, or whatever you wish. Just do it.

Make sure you use a quality oil filter as the Fram oil filter has been noted to fail on these engines due to high start up pressures, I think they are constructed poorly after I cut on open and looked in the inside of one (thats all I used to use). I now use a Baldwin 1441 oil filter and Delvac 1300 Super 15W/40 CI Rated Oil, and Baldwin BT 8460 Transmisssion filter along with Dexron III fluid.
