Ok guys, Im getting a 6 speed duramax for sure, I pretty sure im going to get a SBC DD kit heres my driving routine and concerns, hopefully you guys can answer.

1.) I live on a farm in a small town with a lot of stop and go driving. I pull loads of cattle and hay every now and then, but I drive empty way more than loaded. So I dont want a heavy clutch peddal with harsh engaugement. also how hard is it to get used to??? I hate hard clutches

2.) I pull maybe twice a year at a local truck pull. Do I need cerramic or ferramic? Is there a difference in how they drive between the two?

3.) Is the sound from the rattling sound more like a diesel under the hood, or more like what the He!! is that?

4.) I plan on a tts xtreme switchable tune, so it needs to hold 500 hp. I will be way below that number most of the time so I just need the clutch to hold it when necessary.

So heres what I want, the most easiest drivable clutch that will daily drive easy, pull some loads (not many), 2 truck pulls a year with out any issues. I dont want my passengers to have wip lash because of harsh engaugement, So which clutch do You guys think will work for me?
P.S. If anyone could answer all these question i would greatly appreciate it.
thanks,
Phil

You'll wanna go with the Ceramic button clutch do to the fact it's smoother than the full feramic. The feramic material is a lot more grabby and resistant to heat, that's why it makes a much better pulling clutch. The ceramic clutch if you pull a sled with it will wear out faster then a feramic clutch but as long as you don't slip it for very long out of the hole I think that it would hold the power just fine.

Yes the sound from the clutch can create a "what the h*ll is that effect" but most will tell you that they would rather have the sound then the problems associated with the DMF

The ceramic clutch should have no issue's holding the TTS Extreme, but if you slip it all the time and really pound the living day lights out of it then don't expect it to last as long as the feramic disks.

The petal pressure is the same between the two clutch types, the only difference is the disk material, so it will only effect the way you drive it and how grabby it is, once again the feramic disk is really grabby and will take a little more getting used to. I don't think that I would have a problem driving either of them in stop and go traffic, but if you want something as smooth as possible go with the ceramic. The petal pressure is only slightly more than stock, definently not like driving a really old one ton!!

Keep in mind that if you do decide to go with the ceramic and find out that you need more holding power you can always upgrade to the feramic disks at a later date or vice versa.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Wade

So if I did wear the cerramic disks out, Would that be all you would have to replace?? Or would you have replace more?

Ok here it goes. I do the same as you do with your truck minus the sled pulling and I run the PPE on kill 100% of the time which netted me 480RWHP with a very dirty air filter and before I got my CAI. I have the DD ceramic SBC.

1) Mine engauges very smoothly with very little grabbyness. Pedal effort is just bearly more than stock. I engauges alittle lower in the the throw than the OEM. I think it shifts as good if not better than stock and you never have to worry about your pedal sticking down or changing in pressure.
2)Don't know but Wade I think called it on previos(sp) post.
3)Yes the noise very bad but here lately mine has got quieter than the "wisking" sound when you push in the clutch. A very very small price to pay for relieablity.
4)4k on mine with 500ish hp the whole time and it has all been great.

Hope it helps. Macs (from Evan) I think is said to be quieter operating. Quietness of the OEM set up means nothing if it is not relieable!!!!!
Good luck and the bottem line is say good bye to the DMF. No matter what anyone trys to tell you no simple clutch disk will fix the problem! Trust me I have tried and tried again and they didn't work.

My guess would be that if you wear out the clutch you will be replacing most everything anyhow. The flywheel can be relined I am told.

Kennedy is correct the feramic material on the flywheel can be replaced. Anything is better than the OEM DMF...junk it!

I'm having great success with my ceramic DD. I probably have 4k on it now and it gets used :D hard. A couple days ago I did a 3k rpm powershift into 6th @ around 70mph and broke the tires loose ):h with no slippage. I was amazed. One other thing. From my research a TTS and a 6spd DO NOT mix.
