I finaly got my mechanic to put on my "' kennedy diesel exhaust onto my HD. All said and done, i am satisfied. It has a nice mellow note to it without being obnoxious. When i looked at the band clamps and noticed that the flat surfaces where the bolts go through dont meet up, my mechanic said that he was afraid that he would brake the clamps if he tighten them that much. anybody got a comment on that? behind the muffler the clamp is actually wedge shaped because the clamp is half on the muffle and half on the pipe. dosnt seem right to me. Stainless steel and grade bolts are what you're playing with.
I used my 650 ftlbs impact wrench and hammered on those nuts like theres no tomorrow.
The straps will stretch and the clamps will pull together.
Don't be afraid, tighten them suckers down http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif
I've had my JK exhaust for 9 months now and love it!

2 years on my truck and the clamps have a slight opening, but not much. No leaks or issues.

Grade 8 bolts. Rattle away, the flat bars should lay flat against each other. IIRC 60 ft lbs is TQ spec.

I forget which way it is, but yes, the one goes into the other. The band clamps are not for a butt joint. Just let the air gun hammer on them and they'll mold themselves right around the uneven joint made by slipping one inside the other.

Yes, muffler is measured in ID and pipe in OD. There's a bit of extra length included so if it is dinged out of round, the bent part will be cut off..
