Nothing is impossible. A friend of mine used to have a 3208 CAT(IIRC) in his 80s chevy.

Might want to have some deep pockets as well.. Time and patience will be another key...

yes, i have actually seen a 3208 in 80's chevy, but would like a inline, possibly a cat c7 or 3126.... yes ALOT of patience ,yes deep pockets, it will probally be costly, was thinking of using my "old reliable 94 k3500 single rear" she is pushing almost at 300k, orig drive train but all shot, dont know if frames are better than now or vice versa?

Id say frames are better now. Technoligy you know. Of course GM is full of cost cutting tricks so who knows. Driveline parts are cheaper for older truck so that might be something to consider.
