Hey guys! This is my first post and I want to say thanks for the wealth of information that you provide.

I have an '06 Silverado 3500 CC D/A and I this is by far the best truck I've ever had. However, I have the following situation:

I loosened, removed, and reinstalled 6 bolts and bushings, 3 on each side, that connect the body to frame to install aftermarket steps. Then my 5'er dealer loosened and tightened 3 bed to frame bolts to install the underbed mounts for my Reese Signature hitch.

After a few days driving I now have body squeaks that are about to drive me nuts. Everytime the TV frame flexes it sounds and feels like everything is about to bust apart. I have gone under and tightened each bolt as tight as I could but the squeaks remain.

Is there a proper way to remove and reinstall these body/bed mount bolts and bushings such that there is no squeaking? How does the factory do it? I just want my quiet new truck back. Thanks in advance for your advice and suggestions. Steve...

I had the same problem, so when I took it in for the recall I had the front end man take a ride with me. When turning left and when straight low speed braking, the truck would squeak, but never when turning right. After the ride he looked at the truck again and he noticed the tube steps on the side. I told him the dealer had them installed, so he took it back in and he said he shimmed the step mounts and retightened them. He said he'd seen it before, and the noise has stopped. I was watching from the customer area and he did mess with some other things in the front end area. But he did say it was the step mounts contacting the frame. I had my bed lifted for the Signature Series rails to be installed, but no noise from that area. Mike Z
