Underseat storage for 2004 Chevy Extended Cab

I'm aware of 3 options. Two are from GM and one is from Bestop. Before I buy one, has anyone compared the 3? I want to know the differences. As I understand it, the GM ones either have a lid ($257.60) or use the seat as a lid ($150.50).

Here's the GM infor from GMpartsdirect.com

<TABLE id=parts style="WIDTH: 100%; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #cccccc" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=3 rules=all align=left border=1>

<TD>Underseat Storage/Divider</TD>
<TD>Lockable w/o keys, Black w/o Logo (Lower bench seat doubles as storage lid)</TD></TR></T></TABLE>

Does anyone have pics of the GM ones? Is there any difference other than having vs. not having a lid?

The Bestop one can be seen here ($179.99)

I stuck the GM one with the lid in my truck. Do some shopping if you decide on the GM models. The parts direct site has a good price, but when you get to check out hang on to your wallet. The shipping is brutal for that, I know because I checked it before talking to my dealer's parts dept.

I got a better price when shipping is included of $282.00, from the local Bowtie dealer after my guy didn't seem interested in dealing.

The box with the lid is a full box with six sides. The "divider" is just a three-sided "skirt" that fills the front and sides under the seat. Both will do pretty much the same thing with the exception of the locking lid on the full box.

I have the GM Box. It's great! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifLockable out of sight, out of mind storage that's long enough to hold a couple of Rifles/Shotguns! If they can't see it they can't steal it!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif And with the lid, you can fold seat bottom up, and stack on top of the boxhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

I got mine through a buddy's Body Shop from a very large GM Parts dealer, for about $285.00. Well worth the price of admission!

I to have the GM box w/ the lockable lid. I am getting ready to purchase a new HD and am willing to sell my underseat storage box if you are interested. Shipping would be a bit of a pain as it's a little bulky but email me if your interested. y2kboti@yahoo.com

email sent... I just noticed that you're in Southern California. I may be heading down there again late this month to the San Gabriel Valley area.

I have the one with the lid, from GM. Well built, nice unit, easy install. Although the first one I received the hinges were smashed. Though one complaint and one concern.

Complaint - The handle is in the MIDDLE of the box - That is one heck of a stretch to open and unlock! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Concern - How does one access the jack and tools if you ever get a flat . . . . http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

If I was to buy a box again I'd give the non- lidded unit a whirl, since it is plastic, if one wanted what was in the box they'd smash it open.

The instructions on how to remove the jack and tools are located on the top left section of the lid.( The white decal in the picture )
I think the lock was designed to "keep the honest man honest"

Yeah I "saw" the little universal "picto-gram" although still wonder if my arm would fit through the little hole . . . . Maybe I'm just stupid and the jack is supposed to go "in" the box. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif I wonder if the sticker is still there . . . I hate stickers . . . .

I tried to remove the jack after i installed the box as a "test"
It is very tight, but it does come out with a little twisting and turning. There is a little notch above the "how To" sticker which helps in getting it out.
