I just got of the chevy website from building/pricing a 3500SRW and the only axle ratio avaliable is 4.10, in a ext. cab, long box, dmax/alli. Anyone care to comment on this? I thought they weren't avaliable? It seems its now the only option.

Edit: Sorry for the confusion, 3.73 is still an option. I just rechecked it again.Edited by: 338_

Still trying to figure out, unless you are pulling all the time or going to lift it and run 44's or something why would you want to have a 4.10 installed? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

It seems its now the only option.

Somehow, the computer thinks your choosing a 6.0 automatic, as THAT is your only choice on THAT engine.

I still think they're not available, but if it infact is,....I could understand them offering it on the 3500's.

There is DEFINATELY a place for 4.10's with the 265 equipped trucks. If your towing heavy under 55 mph, you'll appreciate the benefit of 4.10's. If all you do is cruise the highways at 75-80mph, 4.10's will kill you.

Every other manufacturer lets you choose ratio's, whats so special about the D/A that prevents this?

Guys, i'm not saying that I wanted a 4.10 gear. I was merely pointing out that its now offered with the configuration I built up for a 3500SRW and 3500DRW. I picked Dmax/Alli, 4X4, LS trim, snowplow prep, and tow package. Go to the CHEVY website and build a truck for yourself to see the option with your own eyes. The stealers may still be saying its not avaliable but if I really wanted one then i'd argue the point that it is avaliable, according to GM. I just went back and checked again, 3.73 is an option but it defaults to 4.10 for my 3500SRW configuration. The option code for the 4.10 is, GT5. The 3.73 is GT4. Edited by: 338_

Here is what I just configured....

Get just past the color option page, then on to the OPTIONS and PACKAGES.

1st I chose the Snowplow prep pkg.

2nd I went down and chose the HD Power pkg. option.

This is what pops up....

Your selection of Heavy-Duty Power Package, includes (LLY) Engine impacts your current configuration in the following ways:

The total MSRP of your vehicle has changed from $32,575.00 to $39,475.00

Will change the price of the following option(s) previously selected:
• HD POWER PKG DISCOUNT

The following option(s) have been added:
• Engine, Duramax 6600 Turbo Diesel V8, (with Manual Transmissions 300 HP [223.8 kW] @ 3000 rpm, 520 lb.-ft. [702.0 N-m] @ 1600 rpm) (with Automatic Transmissions 310 HP [231.2 KW] @ 3000 rpm, 590 lb.-ft. [796.5 N-m] @ 1600 rpm)
• Engine block heater
• Differential, locking, heavy-duty, rear, |
• Cooling, external transmission oil cooler, | auxiliary, heavy-duty air-to-oil
• Transmission, Allison 1000 5-speed automatic, electronically controlled with overdrive and electronic engine grade braking, includes tow/haul mode selector and (KNP) Cooling, external transmission oil cooler

The following option(s) have been removed:
• Rear axle, 4.10 ratio
• Engine, Vortec 6000 V8 SFI
• 5-SPD MANUAL TRANS W/OVERDRIVE

So, I'd say its STILL NOT AVAILABLE.

Well, you got me.

Just for $hits and giggles, I went (gulp) and tried it on the Chevy section.

Sure enough, its available on a Chevy but not a GMC (Whats depicted above).

Any thoughts on this?

Ahh! Chevy must equal work truck. And GMC must equal luxury ride.

At least thats probally how GM see's it.

I never tried the GMC site. Interesting that one offers it, and the other doesn't.
