has anybody, on a LB7, just cut right before the muffler and put an elbow out the side before the rear wheel? the reason i ask, is because i dont want to pay 65 bucks to get a muffler shop to chop off my muffler and put a piece of pipe on it. if yall have an answer for me here, then please let me know. i dont know if you would get alot of exhaust on the wheel or anything. any thoughts are welcome.

If you shorten the pipe and exit there the drone and cab noise will be extensive.
I have driven a truck CC with a shortened exhaust ,although exiting under the truck with a turn down and it was quite loud.
Be prepared
There are companies that sell a muffler delete pipe.

Guy I know did that. In hindsight, wishes he hadn't. Pain keeping that wheel (and side of the truck I would think?) clean.
Never said anything about drone, so I don't kow if that is an issue or not.

thanks, i was wondering if anybody had any answers for me. also, do yall think that $65 is too much to take the muffler out and put pipe in? i am also just thinking about going with a 4" system, and just getting the delete pipe for the muffler.

I did it to my 05. see garage. Still have on cat for now.Drone is minor, just noticeable over engine at freeway speeds.$65 is about right to have them do swap out.

yeah I did it on my o5 as well. MBRP 4" frontpipe and a 4" 45 elbow. I made a flange up to bolt it to the front pipe. I have a regular cab and needed the 45 to clear the torsion bar crossmember.

Ran mine like that for a few days before I got my stacks on, I just had the piece of flex pipe that attachs to my stacks turned down, its pretty dern loud, I kinda liked it but it was kinda hard to have a conversation with someone. If you really want it loud just unbolt it from the 4 bolt flange, Iv never road in nothing that loud in the cab than mine was when I had it like that.

I am wanting stacks for mine, but until I get the cash, I was thinking of cutting the muffler off. I still may do it, but hesitant. Nobody rides with me, so the noise isn't a problem.
(Kinda weird having a crewcab and riding alone!)

i know exactly what you mean carver. i work in louisiana, and that long drive with nobody in there does get pretty boring and lonely.

I bought my truck used and it was exactly as you say the muff was cut out and turned out just before back wheel ... BLACK A$$ fender/wheel/tire ect. hard to keep it clean. needless to say when I went to get it inspected last week (here in Houston) they would not do it with out the muff. So I just spent the last week driving around with a expired inspection sticker while waiting for my new 4" MBRP to come in. as far as the droneing the sound in the cab was not that bad with the old pipe and after I installed the full new set up it is about the same as far as I can tell. Do your self a favor and get the new exhaust.
I paid just under $400 shipped to my door for the 4" MBRP aluminized Installer.

i dumped it out the side on my 05 ford. the wheel would last about 2 days before getting dirty after a wash. i liked it. lotsa drone though.
