Have a few brake questions. I am wondering how you tell when the brakes are worn out on the newer GM cars and trucks. Do they still have the "squealers" built in, or do you have to take the wheel off to inspect?

P.S. My 1994 has "squealers". Last brake job was the calipers and pads at 188k.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I do a visual inspection every time I have the tires off, but there are squealers on my truck. I have almost 60,000mi on my truck and the brakes still look good. Probably go to 80,000mi and change them out. Just to get some fresh rotors on the truck. A lot of people have had their rotors wear out before the pads.

The brakes on these trucks are wonderful, many people are seeing 80K on rotors easy, some people are seeing 80 on pads!

Yes, they do have sensors but I have vaporized rotors because the sensor is only on one side of the caliper and for some reason the pad on the other side wore out. I cut a rotor down to the vents in the middle before I got in to a shophttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif........oops......that was on a 1990 half ton.........I have had good luck with the brakes on the HD
