: Predator 2.02
05'Max 04-01-2006, 12:40 PM This site is about finding solutions to complicated problems. Well, sometimes not so complicated but, isn't it much easier to throw out your problems here and seek answers rather that the ol' hit and miss trials we used to endure(not to memtion inventing all those great cuss words). I'm getting ready to install my Predator (a gift from my wife, Yup!) and would like to hear from those of you that HAVEN"T had any problems......And has the BS stick made it better yet?
phebus 04-01-2006, 12:57 PM Installed mine a few months ago, no problems. I installed it on the 65hp setting and had it that way for a couple of months, and then went down to the 40hp setting, as I wasn't to fond of the throttle response and shifting habits of the 65hp. Love the 40, but I am getting a turbo bark on shifting between 2nd and 3rd.
05'Max 04-01-2006, 01:32 PM Have the newest 2.02? Any ideas what the barking is all about?
VC-17 04-01-2006, 01:34 PM I've have mine set at the 40hp tune with EGR unplugged and off on the Predator, No problems for a few months and no CEL or any other lights. I am very happy with it and towing my 8500# travel trailer is soooooooo nice too. When I first installed it, had it set on the 65hp tune, too much for me, I would've abused it. IMO, go with the 40hp tune and you'll be very happy.
brich6600 04-01-2006, 04:55 PM Have had my 2.02 in for awhile now, ran the 40, loved it, tired the 120 really enjoyed the black smoke and great power. Put on the 65 now for daily use, still loving it. Never had a problem. Do not have a boost stick, but it does perform nice. Great bang for the buck.
pbarth 04-01-2006, 07:17 PM Been running mine for a few months on 65. Unplugged EGR with Pred EGR Diagnostics turned off. No problem at all..The throttle is a little punchy on takeoff, but you get used to it. I just add a little throttle, hold it and the truck pretty much accells through the first two shifts. I'm told the 65HP is the safe limit with the 2.02 and stock tranny. You shouldn't need a BS. That is kinda the point behind 2.02 from what I understand; added boost.
h8nopi 04-01-2006, 08:25 PM Ran the 65hp tune with the bs liked it that way wanted to try the 85hp didn't bother with bs would have been to much. Don't like the 85hp on cold mornings it kinda rattles a little til it warms up then it's NICE! Throttle is a little touchy. Just got a va box and trying it on the 70hp not as powerful as the 85hp but is alot less touchy. Going to try it with bs in the morning

Yes it's the version 2.02
Not sure why it is barking, it does it more during warm up, and if I get in the throttle, it does it less than during normal acceleration.
I'm going to get a EGR blocker, and fingerstick and see if that takes care of it. It is a CA truck, so if I unplug the EGR, it still throws codes even though the EGR diagnostics are turned off with the Predator.

120? I thought they only went to 100? That's as far as mine goes...
brich6600 04-02-2006, 11:38 AM The 2.02 has a 120 setting. Its got more power then the 2.0.
h8nopi 04-02-2006, 05:59 PM I thought that looked diff. my 2.02 only goes to 100hp
I haven't had any trouble with mine after several months !! I have ran it on 85.......65........and 40 !! All run good, shift good, and I have noticed no difference in throttle response or shifting between any settings ! I did limp my tranny in 5th on 85 hp but have had no trouble in lower gears..........as a matter of fact I am running the 85 currently .
My seat o the pants meter can not tell a huge difference from 40-85 hp settings.............runs pretty darn good on the 40 hp setting . I am getting better mailage at 85 hp though for whatever reason !!
I will probably put it back on the 65 tune before long and leave it........good power and it doesn't limp in 5th !!
cowdoc 04-03-2006, 12:02 PM I have been running the 65 hp tune for a few months. For the past month I have been running it with the egr unplugged and egr diagnostics turned off. No problems whatsoever :D . Actually, I have been running the 40 hp tune for the past week just to compare its fuel mileage to the 65 hp tune. Not seeing any difference.
Gota love the Predator!!!
stinger 04-04-2006, 04:38 PM When I first got mine I threw the 85 tune in for a couple weeks. I didn't like the way the tranny shifted at all. I then put the 40 tune in for a trip with my fifth wheel. It shifted alot better than before. I left it in for a week after my trip, but wanted more power again. I took it up to 65 for a few days, but still wanted that power again. I went ahead a took it back up to 85 and have noticed that the tranny is shifting great and the power feels good. My mileage seems to be about the same as the 40 tune. I guess by going up a little at a time helped with the trans, but I can't say for sure.
