Decided to not make a trailer hitch for my first welding project......:)

Went with a cart and a table, cart comes out from underneath the table so I can sit if I want. Anything to make the welds nicer......

I used both mig and stick......flux core with the mig, 1/8 in 7018 and 6013 rod with the stick welder.......the mig didnt want to do much with the 1/2 inch thick table top.

The closeup of the weld on the table is with about one minute of actual stick welding practice, so dont make too much fun,......:p:

Thanks for lookin!

BTW, the wiring in the shop worked perfect! Thanks for the help again!!!

When I tried to take a picture of my first and only welding attempt it broke the camera. Man they were some REALLY ugly welds. ):h A couple didn't even hold.

Looks good to me and now your setup to keep practicing. Watching a good welder in action is very impressive.

Ya gotta start somewhere. I am sure Jesse James(the welder not gun fighter) didn't have perfect welds right off the bat..

I need a better stick welder.

Those look better than anything I've laid down in 20 pounds of 5/32 6013

I played around with 3/32 6011 rods and I had fits with it. It kept sticking like 2 seconds after I struck the arc. I played around with the heat and it kept laying down a splattery flat bead.......poop. I dumped the little rods and went for the 7018 and 6013 1/8 in rods and it worked great. I dont think Ill ever do anything with that stick welder that is going to take a 3/32 rod, so from now on its all 1/8 in for me.....

If youre looking for a welder, check out craigslist.....thats where I got the miller. Barely used, half price, no tax!!!

Future projects include a bridge to cross a creek on the farm, firewood rack, custom pintle hitch for a friends tractor box, and a motrocycle trailer.

Ive also been looking into getting a small bender to make custom gates and stuff. I think there is some money to be made there!!!

Manny-

Looks like you welding skills are about as good as your political views...LOL

j/k...as stated above ya gotta start somewhere, im not the greatest welder but i've gotten better and the more you weld the better you get, your welds aren't too really bad, at least they are still holding.

Keep up the good work
