Does any one know why my take off is so slow, plenty of pull at 2nd and higher. Do I need trany mods, bigger exhaust, after market air intake,Edge juice/attitude, or a programmer. I plan on getting the juice/attitude, 305/70's bfg's A/T's for sure. A few months before I bought my04' D/A CC SB LLY GMC, I took a 04' D/A EC SB Chevy for a test drive and it had a lot of snap in first, I was impressed http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif Shouldn't be a big difference between CC &amp; EC is there? Mine doesn't have the same snap by far, it's hard to pull out into traffic sometimes because of slow take off <font color="red">NEED SOME HELP PLEASE

Give it some time to break in. If it is that bad, take it by the dealer and drive other trucks that are the same...

TD's are naturally slow off the line b/c of the turbo lag.

If you really want to take off, put a foot on the brake and the throttle at the same time about 2 seconds before you intend to go. Practice this, and youll be peeling out...Just pratice out in the open, not in traffic...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

Because of turbo lag, would anything after market boost low end snap. 3500k so far and no improvements on snap, don't really want to brake torque it. Would 410's gearing help alot?

Mine is the same way, bone stock with 1100 miles, if you get the rpms upto say 2000 then let off the brake---look out!--your tires will hate you! The first time I gtec'd it I ran a 17.0 in the 1/4 (just mashed the throttle--no tire spin) Then tried braking to get the rpms up, and ran 16.5 smoking the tires through atleast two gears!

If you only have 3,500 miles, I'd say wait a bit. Your truck is still breaking-in. You want to go a little easy on her anyway. I've owned two duramaxs. I don't have any proof, but based on my experience, I would swear they have the ECU detuned during break-in. It almost seems like as you put miles on the truck, it creeps up performance in increments. The power difference between pre and post break-in are just too great to stem purely from mechanical break-in.

Also, make sure your rig is at full running temperature (185 F) before you start stomping on it. Mine is equipped with Juice/Attitude, and I've noticed substandard performance until it reaches about 180 degrees.

Lastly, get the Juice/Attitude when they release for the LLY engine. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

I'm not positive on this, but I have read from others on this forum that the LLY doesn't give full torque in first gear. Can anybody confirm or deny this?

I think it's called torque management.

Holeshots have destroyed Ally's so be careful. It doesn't like them. I had a personal experience in another guys truck.

FWIW ~ I've 8700miles on my 02 and recently had the ECM &amp; TCU reflashed w/the latest programs and the result were amazing.

Blue Crew,

Bad news and good news for you:

1. Your truck is FULLY broken in already and the first gear acceleration will not get any better whatsoever. It's because you have "3500k so far" on the odometer. That's three million five hundred thousand miles.

2. Good news is that we can all be very happy about the durability of our new engines!Edited by: Rollin' Thunder

That is true... The LLY is 520 Ft lbs in 1st and 5th gears. It is 590 Ft lbs in 2nd 3rd and 4th gears.

BTW After I installed the exhaust, It didn't seem to have much turbo lag at all. It seemed to like it..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Torque management of some sort is present in ALL the GM truck engines as well as some cars.

First gear TM is very noticable even in my 6.0 gasser. Shift flare TM is also present.

Part of what the chips/tuners do is remove or modify the TM.

For instance, I can NOT spin my tires on takeoff, yet strumming along @ 40mph, and floor it.....WATCH OUT!

Mine is a dawg (LLY) off the line. About 20-25mph and it wakes up.

I was reluctant to "powerbrake" it. But then one night a Mitsubishi Eclipse pulled in the "right turn only" lane next to me at a stop light to cut the line in traffic. I HATE people who can't take their turn in line.

Pushed the 4WD High button. Went solid.

Waited until the cross light went Yellow.

Powerbraked until ~2000 RPM...

GREEN!! No tire spin, just got up and boogied. At 60MPH, the Eclipse gave it up, and got to suck my diesel fumes the rest of the way home.
