I have it in writing from my dealer that THEY will not void my warranty if I install a CAT back aftermarket exhaust system. Any comments? What have other dealers said?

Tell them, in writing that when you do put the cat back on, that they will be sued!!!!!! As long as you do not touch anything from the cat foward- it is perfectly legal. If they are still being pricks- try a different dealership. A GMC dealer. They are BSing you big time.

Oh sorry, I spoke with a junior service guy who said that he would void my warranty with a cat back system. Sorry I was in vent mode, didnt read it closely. Then talked to someone who had their head removed from their rectum, and everything was good. The guy didnt even care that I had a chip on it.

BART,

That's the normal program, leave the cat alone and all will usually be fine!

GM sells an aftermarket exhaust kit from Corsa kit 15205 for duramax's. It would be hard for them to void your warranty with one of those. Some dealers are kinda anal about aftermarket kits, but many are not. We have a pretty good business selling GM accessories.

Interesting info Jerry, dose GM sell aftermarket Exhaust for the duramax that is a full replacement or just cat back?

If you ever have any trouble with a dealership refusing your warranty work because of an aftermarket part go to www.enjoythedrive.com (http://www.enjoythedrive.com) that is a website that explains warranties, dealerships and laws. Pretty interesting reading...

Yeah, I added a MBRP catback to my truck, and as long as I didn't fool with the cat, they had no problem.

My dealer doesn't care about the cat. In fact the service writer said more come in for service work with them off than on.
