Hi, guys. I bought my truck in December and it's been cold almost every day until lately. While it was still cold out, my truck used to run at about 180 to 190 degrees, even after traveling about 15 miles. With the weather starting to warm up, my coolant temp guage is reading about 210 degrees after the truck is warmed up, pulling no trailer and with an empty bed. Is this normal?

I'm wondering what the temp will be when it gets to be 95 degrees outside and I'm pulling a loaded trailer. Thanks...Carmine

That's about what mine runs. I've done some towing and haven't seen it any higher.

one thing I noticed is that the dash guage reads higher than the data over the bus (which also drives the analog gauge). A 210 reading on my dash gauge is only 192 when read through the data bus.

I believe Kennedy and others have noticed the same thing.

That sounds a little high. I wonder what the accuracy of the
gauge is, including the sensor..+/- 3% ? When it was 84 outside
and I was running 80 MPH unloaded, mine was running 190.

the OEM temp guage sux. It's no better than an idiot light.

I am wondering the same. Last summer there were no real heavy towing reports in hot weather for LBZ.

I would be really interested in knowing your oil temp when towing.

Don't worry about the gauge till you see it trends over the 210 mark. It is very sensistive between 190 and 210, moving around for very little change. These other posts are correct.

I'm seeing the same kind of temps in my truck this week now that the weather has warmed up. I've also noticed in cooler weather that it seems to run 5-10 degrees hotter when there is a cross-wind. My guess is that it is disrupting air flow into the grill.

DITTO...195 on the dash gauge, I am reading 182 on the data bus. 210 on the dash, I am reading 192 on the data bus. The gauge on my previous 04.5 LLY was the same way.

Mine's not reading quite as hot - about 200 according to the dash gauge (at 80mph on the interstate in sunny florida). Around town it drops dramatically - drops probably 15-20 degrees.

Seems a little high, but who knows how accurate the readings are. For comparison the weather started to break here:
32 degrees in the morning on the way to work and 70 degrees in the afternoon on the way home and my temps are the same regardless (around 195 when empty). I towed a 16' V nose enclosed trailer (roughly 3500 lbs with the small load I was carrying) and my temps were a steady 208 degrees at 70-75 MPH. I'm beginning to wonder what my temps will be when I start towing my pulling truck on the equipment trailer (roughly 9500 lbs) and the weather is in the 90's...?
