Send me 10 bucks and i will fax you full instructions how to do this yourself. You need a file and a drill bit. Take the rest of the money and treat the family or yourself. I suggest treating family, please do not be c/s with savings. I know you will do it right.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Well, how much power will this mod actually hold, and will it keep the torque converter from slipping? I don't think my clutches are toasted yet, and I won't have the full upgrade for afew months. I want to race it now.

I just received this kit not 10 minutes ago. I will have this installed in my 04 by the end of the week. I will keep you posted as soon as I get to run the truck.

Installed this Bully Dog trans upgrade. The truck shifts really hard under mild acceleration, softer under WOT. The down shifts are the same, aggressive. I have a TST on the truck now and can run a full setting 9 on TQ and 9 on HP. The truck is brand new and with out the trans upgrade the tranny would still hold this with no troubles. M previous 03 would trip out on the 6 and 5. I will be doing the TST with a Quad 135 by next week, I will let everyon know how this turns out.

I have had many cars with heavy tranny work, I am used to a hard shift, this trans shifts as hard as any I have had in various muscle cars. It may be too hard hitting for some people.

The install was very straight forward, instructions were first rate. Any one that can do an oil change could do this mod.

More to come.

I bet the shifts will soften up some in the next week or two. Especailly if you try all different throttle positions through every gear.

Time will tell, although I am used to it now and do like it this way.

MBRP,

Did you pull the battery connection after the install to reset the tcm? Can the kit be installed without removing the tranny?

From what I have seen of the kit it looks a lot like the transgo kit I installed in my 4L80E.

Thanks for the heads up!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

thanks for the reply. and congrats!!!!

Now let us know how much power it is able to hold?

I would really like to know if i could stack my 120hp predator with another programmer with a 65hp tune to have 185hp total. let us know how it holds up

Just a question, but did you take any pics while you were doing this? I know you said it was simple, but did you have to remove the transmission and what all was involved? Thanks

Going to order the kit tomorrow so I would like to have a heads up.

drop the pan, pull 3 bolts or so to pull the trim sol's out, put in there "better" parts, pop the trim sol's back in, reinstall and tighten the 3 bolts ( plus one for the other end of line) and put pan/filter back on, fill fluid.

MBRP

Sorry no pics. You do NOT remove the tranny. ( I'm not yelling) You simply take the trans pan off then remove the valve body with 2 or 3 bolts and your are good to go. With the valve body out on the bench you re and re a couple parts and then its back to assembly.

I did pull the battery leads, we pull the power when ever we do an exhaust install, now we just do it for evrything, just habit.

I will do the stack tonight. I will post the outcome in the AM.

If it shifts hard all the time, it sounds like it's circumventing part of the the Allison's software control. Wonder if the change will make something else in the tranny wear quicker?

That's the problem with this type of modification. It causes the trim valves to put full pressure on the clutch packs which is good for racing around but not much good for normal driving. The software control is pretty much gone bacuse it cannot lower the pressure when the trim valves willnot respond.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Diesel Tech. Thanks for the info. After a full night of playin, the trans really shifts firm and quick, it is actually a nice shift.

I did get to stack the 110 Quad with a TST.

I had the Quad set on a 90 tune with the TST at 9HP and 4TQ. After lots of fooling around i tried two hard runs, trans wouldn't do it. I did do a couple runs on the way to the office this morning, had the Quad at 90 with the TST at 3HP and 3 TQ No problems. I do however have the "Check Engine" light on still from last night.

We did a couple videos of the truck last night for our website, when I watched it back it really seems like the truck just want to keep shifting faster.

All in all I do like the trans upgrade. Hope this helps anyone that was looking into this deal.

MBRP,

I am unfamiliar with the TST box. What kind of power does it make in the different settings? I am trying to compare this to the 125HP J/A in order to evaluate the Bully dog shift kit.

Thanks! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

The TST has infinate settings from 0 up to 140 HP I believe. You can set the HP and TQ seperatly.

Did you get the codes fixed? Still happy with the kit?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

Yes still happy, codes are gone. The truck is a hoot to drive with the TST and the Quad.

MBRP,

Thanks for testing and sharing your results!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I will probably purchase this kit in the next few weeks. I feel that I need a little extra holding power, but don't have the budget for the full tranny or the power boxes/tuners that require the "full meal deal".http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Thanks again!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

On the TST Kit, when you say you had it on 4hp, whats that mean, 40hp???

With the TST POWER MAX there are settings from 1-9 for the HP and the TQ, I was set on 4.

Hope this helps.

On the TST boxes the number doesnt mean an exact horsepower or torque. From my understanding they dont exaclty mean that, one changes upper rpm fueling and the other changes lower end fueling, and each of them is adjustable from 0-9.

MBRP, you did this upgrade. How is it holding and what kind of power are you running through the transmission? One of my customers and myself are planning on doing this and I wanted to know if it is worth it. Thanks

MBRP
04-30-2004, 05:34 PM
Still running it. It does firm up the shifts. Cannot say how much extra power it hold as I have been trying many of the box / programmers on the market. I do trip the trans with the Quad 135, but it is making good power at this point. If anyone want to see this thing shift PM me and I will send you a quick clip.

Hopethis helps

So your saying it limps the tranny with the Quad 135 by itself?......or stacked with your TST box?

MBRP
05-01-2004, 02:13 PM
Maverick

Yes it will limp with the new Quad 135. A hard launch through first and second most times it will get in to third then its done. It does not happen all the time I have not tried the 135 with the TST. I did have the TST with the Quad 110 and could get the TST up prwtty good before any trans troubles.

The Quad new 135 has much better TQ and HP over the older Quad 110.

This mod is going to cost some people big time. Remember what i said about hard shifts. Do it right the first time. Hard shifts are no good in an Allison.
