Why have some of you guys bought new transmission pans? Is there a reason, or just for dress-up?

Thankshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

The new pans they have gotten are the deep pans. Allows for more tranny fluid and lower temps. GM uses the short pans instead of the deep pans that Allison puts on them when used in other applications.

The 2004 LLY's come with the deep pans.

Thanks!

P.S. Hoot, did you give them the "horn" when you traded?

Nope... they basically let me strip it. The Juice and gauges were on it when it was appraised.

Hey Hoot,

I had been under the impression that the LLY equipted trucks had a deeper pan installed on the Ally as well. But I asked that question on another thread and Mike L. said it was not the case. His post is the last one on this thread:

Have you seen something that indicates it is a deeper pan?

You know when I typed that i said to my self... i better make sure. I read it a couple of places.

Sorry if I was wrong. I should have verified it. Got lazy.

I said the same thing you did Hoot and was promptly corrected. My son has a LLY. He measured his and I did mine. Exactly the same. I saw a photo that someone posted. It sure looked deeper. I took a photo from the same angle and it looked deeper also. Optical delusion. Later! Frank
