: Speed Limiter Remover
easymon4u 04-05-2004, 10:14 PM A while back there was some chat about Quadzilla making a handy tool to remove the speed limiter on the Dmax. What happen, is it in the works or not enough people interested in it? Sure would be nice to have something to do this I am stuck @ 14.26 @ 95mi in the 1/4 mi. and Juice has some to go. About 1000' it starts to defuel cause 95mi per hr is top speed.
PEANUTGRWR 04-05-2004, 10:29 PM I SEE THAT YOU ARE A 01 OWNER AS I AM. YOURE EITHER GOING TO NEED A REFLASHED ECM OR A PREDATOR AND POSSIBLY THE XCELLERATOR. THE QUAD,BULLY, TYPE TUNERS WILL NOT REMOVE THE LIMITER ON THE 01'S Edited by: PEANUTGRWR
easymon4u 04-05-2004, 10:40 PM Peanutgrwr,
I seen this post some time ago.... As you can see, Quadzilla was making some talk that he was going to come up with a tool to do this. Speed Limit Remover (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4957&PN=1)Edited by: easymon4u
PEANUTGRWR 04-05-2004, 10:43 PM YES I REMEMBER THAT, BUT ACTUALLY I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS GOING TO BE FOR THE 02 AND NEW TRUCKS OR ALL OF THEM.
easymon4u 04-05-2004, 10:45 PM So did this idea die?
PEANUTGRWR 04-05-2004, 10:49 PM LOL I DUNNO REALLY, THEY HAVE BANNED QUAD FROM THIS SITE SO YOURE GOING TO HAVE TO CALL HIM TO FIND OUT FOR CERTAIN, BUT I HAVENT HEARD HIDE NOR HAIR OF IT SINCE THAT THREAD DIED
easymon4u 04-05-2004, 11:20 PM Thanks Peanut...I will
cmadmaxman 04-06-2004, 08:17 AM I have the new 110 tune and the tire cal. and limiter still don't work on my truck.
If I try to use them, the program won't load at all!
Now have problems with zinging the trans at 75-80 mphhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif. Did not have that with the old program.
Quad has been saying that he was going to work on a fix for the 01's since last September!
Lets face it they don't make the 01's now, just work on the new products (LLY). We (01' owners) are a dead market for them!
Heartbeat Hauler 04-06-2004, 11:56 AM Funny you should post this subject. I am currently talking with a vendor that is looking into a "Basic Programmer" (no hp upgrades)as I type. He is getting it from Quad and it's suppose to work with the 01s. It is cheaper than other programmers as it only does the remove speed limiter, recalibrate tire changes and read/clear codes. No word yet on price, hopefully today. PM or e-mail me for info if you are interested.

Matador 04-06-2004, 12:07 PM Doesn't the Predator work on the 01s? I believe Superlift also has a module for recalibrating for tire changes for about $150.
I had the same problem with my 01, but decided to just get the Juice/Attitude since it appears to be the best and safest module out there for getting more (smoother) power.
After I installed it, I got a bonus I wasn't expecting. The Attitude also shows the correct speed for larger tires , so now I just look at its display if I need to know exactly how fast I'm going even though my speedo is still off. And my warranty will last longer!
easymon4u 04-10-2004, 01:32 AM I want one of those that Heartbeat Hauler is talking about.
TheBac 04-10-2004, 08:44 AM Heartbeat, you have a PM......I'm interested in one (if the price is right)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
PEANUTGRWR 04-10-2004, 01:10 PM COUNT ME IN
Scotty Seelen 04-12-2004, 04:55 PM Heartbeat Hauler,
Any word on that program yet? I'll take one right now!
Heartbeat Hauler 04-12-2004, 05:09 PM Hi guys,
Sorry for the late response, but my PC was throwin' codes..http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif
Anyways, the guys that PM'ed me I have sent a response. The long and the short of it is I haven't heard from the guy yet. He said Quad was outta town and would return on Monday. Hopefully there will be some news soon.

Reggie 04-12-2004, 06:59 PM That would be a typical responce from someone waiting for a updated product, new product, return phone call ,email, pm, responce from Quad ,Sorry Unavailable.
From my reading here He's blowing smoke up your anus 01 Duramax owners, start looking for other options I would.Edited by: Reggie
PEANUTGRWR 04-12-2004, 07:09 PM IM THINKING ====HEAD TOTHE BORDERhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif, AND IM NOT TALKING ABOUT TACO BELL EITHERhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
Heartbeat Hauler 04-12-2004, 07:58 PM Well fellas you were right. I just heard back and he talked with Quad and Quad has lost the desire to build this basic programmer. There was mention of ill feelings and I'll leave it at that. He did say that if there was enough interest he would cut you guys a deal on the full blown tuner....sorta like a group buy, but I said most guys wanted the basic tuner because they are already running a tuner of some sort. Anyways I said I would pass on the info for him and he can be reached at this e-mail address if interested:
dieselperformance@charter.net (dieselperformance@charter.net)
The guy's name is Van. Sorry, I know it sucks I wanted one too. So what about the border...don't keep it to yourself. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

YEA WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif
easymon4u 04-13-2004, 12:38 AM I talked with a nameless to protect staff member at Quadzilla last week and what he told me was, the new tuner would be able to remove the 01 speedlimiter. That Quad was not going to go forward with just the speed limit only remove. So I wait....
Mackin 04-13-2004, 06:25 AM Honestly ,I don't believe it will ever come from Quad ....If it could be done it would have happened already with all the current updates ....
Mac
Heartbeat Hauler 04-13-2004, 10:02 AM What I meant by full blown tuner was one of the Quad products (110 so on) currently available, which I believe does not have the "fix" for the 01s. Sorta like, "I can't give you want you want, but I can reduce the cost of what I have." Personally I'm gonna wait until someone comes up with the so-called basic tuner. Hopefully soemone will take on this project.

Mackin 04-13-2004, 10:25 AM In reality the biggest problem is 01 drivability .... The speedlimit defeat and revs is great for the track but the shut down stumble gotta go IMO .... Dangerous .... Some say the 01 market is diminishing .... I say hogwash as these trucks are picked up in the used market out of warranty the aftermarket power will and should flourish ...
Theres anouther happy 01 customer in the classfieds right now ...
Mac
easymon4u 04-13-2004, 10:59 AM Someone will market one. One of those 01 out of warrenty will find a home with a young programmer, and they will see the potential of a fair amount of money that is just waiting for someone to make. Then all the copy cats will follow.
Scotty Seelen 04-13-2004, 11:18 AM I do know one thing. I will NEVER buy another box/programmer that doesn't bypass the speed limiter. So, if the Banks RACEBOX doesn't do this on the 2001 or newer models, I guess I won't replace my six-gun with that one either. Since it's called a RACEBOX, I'm thinking that it will.
Diesel Tech 04-13-2004, 11:57 AM I will make this easy for you guys. Some one of you has to be an EE. The signal generated from the output sensor need to be limited, ie: clipped! that's it very simple. I'm not interested in doing it because our product (PL II) solves the issue when you purchase it. This will take about 40 dollars worth of parts and can be put together in a plastic encloseure with two cables and a few plugs from Packard. If you don't want to build it just buy one of our PowerLoaders for your truck and be done with it!
Heartbeat Hauler 04-13-2004, 12:45 PM That sounds fine, but I'm greedy. I want not only a spedd limiter remover, but also the tire change recalibration, code read/clear options, and I don't want HP tuning as part of it.
JP
JohnWalton 04-13-2004, 01:16 PM From what i've read on here it appears that quad has made promises for a long time to fix the 01 issues. I think Reggie summed it up. I don't have anything against quad as i don't own any of his tuners, but i sure have read a lot of threads about people complaining about his products/services and it makes me wonder.
Heartbeat Hauler 04-13-2004, 01:32 PM Well I'm not defending anyone, but firmware changes to a piece of hardware like the DMAX ECM is a daunting task. Something may look doable, but when you get down to it there may be changes needed that requires resources you don't have. A guy could invest a lot of time and money into something like that and realize it's time to cut my losses and give it up. Personally, I was hoping one of the performance tuner guys from the car industry, i.e. Ed Wright or Bryan Herter, would move into the diesel relm as diesel performance makes a name for itself. These guys are top notch tuners for the GM computers you'd think there would be techniques that would carry over. But, now with the introduction of the LLY motor I'm afraid us 01 guys may be outta luck...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
