Mine has the stance of a 4x4 but is only 2WD in my garage you can see pics of my truck and the distance between the tires.

sometimes you do sometimes you dont, crank the torsion bars to full extension and yeah they may clear, and if you do have to do trimming its only minor, nothing to worry about if you do

You may have to trim a bit, depends on the truck. Being 2x4 you don't have the torsion bars correct? My uncle is running 285s I believe on his regular cab 2x4 Hd. Its a 01, but you might still be ok. I had to shave a bit on my 05 but didn't have to on my 03 GMC. Like they said. Changes truck to truck

Thanks for the info guys. I do have torsion bars and can drive them up some. Their is a Rural King in town and they are doing a buy 3 get one free deal and i thought well might as well go to a 285 if possible.. I like the look of the larger tire on these trucks.
Thanks again

Since the trucks are running 3.73 gears, wont this jump in size screw with the Allison?

Not usually. The speedo will be off a little if not adjusted with a programmer as you know. But the toe in and out will need to be checked. You can use a tape measure on the front (tread to tread distance) of the front tires then go around 180 deg to the back of the front tires and measure again (same tread to tread location) to make sure it's the same. That's if you have never adjusted this way before. Make sure the trucks weight is on the tires too, and that you drive back and forth once or twice in a straight line to check after each adjustment.

I have a preditor and can adjust the speedo with out any problems.. Do you think it would be better for me to go with a 265 instead of a 285? Do you thing it is going to matter that much in the long run?
