: Instrument clusters???

Guys,

I trashed my instrument cluster today trying to solder the TCC lock wire to the back of it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif Looks like I need to buy a new one. The tow/haul light no longer functions. It goes into tow/haul just no light. Yeah its under warranty and I could just take it back to the dealer but that's not my style.

Anyway, I see where people have changed out or upgraded their clusters with Hummer and Escalade clusters. To be honest the pictures on the net must not do these things justice...because they just don't look like a $300-$500.00 upgrade. I would like to hear from those that have done this or have seen the clusters in person. What's your preference??? What's the coolest??? What should I buy???

Thanks in advance!

I have not changed my cluster, but I kinda like the silver escalade cluster Pendlum sells. He has 4 different clusters that are set up for diesels @ $375 each.

I did the same to mine. The Escalage does not have the flow plug (wait to start) light, or the overdrive disable light. I'm not too fond of the white guages either, so I'm just going to get another stock dash. ATS's price is a rip-off, and they also charge a core, but they have got me by the ?????, because I really need that wire.

Trippin, send me your instrument cluster and I will see if I can repair it. Send me pictures if you want. I doubt that you damaged it beyond repair.

I called my Chevrolet service manager buddy today and the price was $210.00 for a stock replacement with a $500.00 core. Meaning if they sent mine in and it couldn't be repaired to sell to the next guy I was on the hook for $710.00 total. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif

Might have to send mine to Max Power for repair. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I wonder if JP customs has a core charge?Edited by: Trippin

If a core was fully functional, then why would you ever need a new one?

Well if you buy one from JP customs and send me yours to be fixed you won't do without one. I am pretty sure the truck is not drivable without the cluster. If I can fix it which I am pretty sure I can, you can sell one or the other on ebay and recoop some of your costs. If you ship it to me make sure your mark it as a defective unit to be repaired to save problems with customs.

I have the white Escalade cluster from JP. The night illumination is a tad uneven in low light situations, but looks real nice at either extreme. To me much better than stock....and different. I also went with the Escalade bezel from JP to finish it off.
